MICHAELANTHONY M. | Overall ExperienceI have had this storage unit since 2015 and I moved out of it on 4/27/2023. My billing cycle is the 20th of every month. I asked the office staff prior to moving out (I stopped by the office on April 19th, 2023) since I was moving out one week after the billing date if the rate would be prorated and the office staff told me yes, but the owner would have to take care of it and that he had seen him do it for others when they closed out their account. When I went to office to close out my account, I encountered Robbie Necessary who apparently was the owner. He was more concerned with telling us how he could have matched the price on the truck we had to move (as we went with one of your competitors because the rate was so much better) and that when we needed another truck he would give us a discount since we were such good, long term customers. When we closed out the account, Robbie did not provide me with a close out receipt and when I asked about the proration, he told me no, that he did not prorate. I asked him “so, I’ve only had the storage unit for a week and I have to pay for the entire month?” He was dismissive and told me “sorry, that’s Uhaul’s policy” and walked away. I told him he needed to make sure that he educated his staff because that is not what I was told a week ago. He wanted me to describe who I spoke to and when I did, he was adamant that everyone i described didn’t work for him and walked away from me again. He was more concerned with talking to a young female that was behind the counter with him. He made it a point to tell me and my husband that he looks after her like “her daddy”. I found that to be very disturbing. I also believe it is completely unfair that I am being charged for an entire month when I only had the unit for one week. I will be following up with a call to the corporate office on Monday.
