I'm glad you asked ... Keeping to the original agreement and promises would certainly help the next customer ... and me as well ... see below. This was the most confusing and now most disappointing U-Haul rental I’ve ever experienced. This started as a rental request for a two day pickup rental for an approximate 450 mi round trip - Sumter to Sumter. The estimated rental fee computed by the U-Haul website was $201. Of course I knew I would pay extra for insurance and there would be taxes and there would also be extra charges if I exceeded 450 miles. Simple – right? Well, it was not to be … there were no pickups available but I was promised there would be something for me within two days of my trip, but that the charges would be the same – even it was as large as a 15 ft. truck. So after about three days of waiting I asked the search be expanded to Columbia and low and behold there was a truck I could rent there – so I said yes. I had to advance all mu departure plans two hours to compensate for the trip to Columbia to pick up the truck and return to Sumter, but I worked that out. The trip also worked out and I then I was once again on the way to return the truck to Columbia – I asked to return it to Sumter, but I was told when I picked it up it had to go back there. Now add in multiple rain showers, heavy traffic and an accident on I-26W in Columbia with backup all the way before the airport exit (please check the traffic report for around 1245pm) and I arrive about 35 minutes after the return time on my paperwork. So charged a different rate that originally quoted and charged an extra day because I had to return the truck to Columbia and my rental bill was … wait for it … $354.37 ! So you see why my after many U-Haul rentals over the years – my U-Haul renting days are probably over? Thank you for your time in reading this …

The key drop box was on the front of the building facing traffic in a very awkward spot to get to. Took 10 minutes to find.

I talked to a representative from your phone line who sent me to the wrong location because it did not have the equipment that I was looking for for my moon so I ended up having to drive 17 more minutes to another location but at the first location I had to wait in line for quite a while but other than that everything else was fine with the move!

While viewing this email attachment, I noticed that I was charge a fuel surcharge. The original fuel gauge was 1/2 a tank and I returned it back with a 1/2 a tank. When I called to inquire about the charge the person I spoke to me that my total payment was $115.00. I said well I paid 76.00 (minus the change) . she said well that was just an estimate. Now I I'm out of money that was not explained to me why.

Looked on Uhaul.com, stated utility trailer was available for rent, arrived 5 minutes later to be told by general manager and another employee they did not have any trailers they "knew what they had". I explained the website said and I saw them on the lot. GM told me had hadn't had any in a while and he knew what he had. GM also told me i didnt have to rent from him.I went to my car, made a reservation online, walked back in and told the GM I juat reserved a trailer and was picking it up maybe he should know what he had better. Instead of apologizing, he proceeded to argue with me. When I told him I could manage the store better than him, he said he would "walk circles around me". GM displayed this behavior in front of his employees. I had not clue Uhaul was so profitable it could just turn customers away. GM might have been having a bad day, however no customer should be treated like this, especially by the GM. Someone needs to look into this ASAP.

The answers above are directed toward the Abott Knox location. When I arrived, the attendant (Hope was her name) told me that the auto transport I had reserved, and confirmed, was not in their posession and that they had to transfer my reservation to another location. This was a major inconvenience and for many different reasons. After leaving the Knox Abbot location I was livid by the lack of customer service and poor communication, or lack there of, from this facility. They knew the transport was not in there possession that morning and never called to notify me of this information. My time is worth something and this facility wasted it by not doing their due diligence. This was an absolutely infuriating experience!

Wonderful location! Getting the Uhaul was quick and easy and they checked it back in and sent my final receipt on the next day, even though I checked it in after hours. I definitely recommend!

Unfortunately we planned to pick up our truck a few blocks from our home at 7:30 when we arrived we found out we have to go to another location five miles away in rush hour traffic to pick up truck. This put our move an hour behind schedule as we then had movers on the clock at our house at 8am but no truck until after 8:30. Honestly you all should have contacted me to ask how you could make up for the mistake and wasting our time. Haven't heard anything...

I was unaware that when I rented the trailer I would not be picking it up at the same location I had rented it from. That was never communicated to me. So, when I came to the store to pick it up, I was told that I had to go across town to pick it up.

The location was incredibly understaffed for the volume of customers. The line was out the door. Even with the mobile check in, no one was available to hand us our key. We had to wait over 45mins even though we were checked in online.

The younger guy gave wrong rate information and if the older man hadn't been there to over hear it and correct him, I would have been charged a wrong rate. Upon my return the younger guy couldn't get my information in the pc and moved everything over to another pc instead of taking the time to realize all he was doing was hitting 2 keys at once when he was 'trying' to type. You should train employees better before leaving them alone with customers.
