I only had contact with two employees in Portsmouth, one went I went in prior to the rental to make sure my hitch and electric harness were correct, and the other when I turned it in. Both individuals were helpful, courteous and knew their job. Their help was also immediate.DAVID N.

I often hire equipment from this site and find the staff friendly and helpful, particularly Ryan. However, the 15-foot truck I hired recently had ineffective aircon (on a 100deg day), a dirty windscreen and interior dashboard. The vehicle had over 130k miles on the clock and clearly felt worn out. Would recommend it is retired asap.Andrew M.

Up returning the rental only 1 agent was available. I was told 3 agents were installing a trailer hitch. No one was available to check me out. I was told a receipt would be e-mailed shortly. 6 hours later no receipt. Called u-haul,on hold for 15 minutes and was disconnected. Called again, waited another 15 minutes. The agent e-mailed the receipt immediately. Disappointed with the service.Gregory M.

Reserved a van online, checked in online. Waited in line at the store for 45 minutes when I went to pick up keys to the truck. Answered the same questions I had entered on line. Was told I had a full tank, it was 3/4. Paid to bring it back full. I've used this location before, never againJohn M.
I have no problem with the location. I had made two reservations. Upon returning the truck after the first reservation, I asked one of the employees to change the second one. He put us in for a date that did not work, so I changed the date online to Wed 6/2 at 5:30. We arrived at the location at 5:15, was told we were early. The emp proceeded to check us out. When I got home, I received a text message with the contract stating the truck was due back on 6/3 at 12:15 p.m. By now it was almost 6:00. After being on hold for happy 25 minutes, a female answered and informed me that was the contract and basically too bad. I asked for the Portsmouth phone number and was told she did not have it, look on my contract. By now it was 7:00, they were closed. I tried to call them at 7:00 a.m. on Thurs 6/3, but got dumped into the same phone queue with another wait of 15-20 minutes which I declined to do. We were able to get the truck back by 12:15, but it made it very, very difficult. I will never use Uhaul again and you can be sure I will tell anyone I can, especially my new and my old neighbors of my experience and highly recommend they look elsewhere. The young woman (I'm sorry I don't recall her name) who checked me in was wonderful. She explained everything about the van and equipment, the billing, and other information I needed to know. The young man at the counter when I returned even called the taxi company for me as my telephone had run out of juice minutes before arriving at the Center. Thank you for a great experience.Daria P.

I had no issues with this location...originally I wanted to pick up in dover....didn't happen when I called customer service they said.....well thats where the truck is available and your reservation on the site said we will call you...true it did say that..but it said we will call you within 24 hours...I received that call 4 days after....no big deal customer service should really just be a little nicer, maybe take a page out of the stores book cause they were greatJustin O.

This company does the worst customer service EVER! OFFERED no contract, no mention of going to an app or link to check in the truck for drop off, ok that 2p fee i will eat since they are incompetent but once in the truck on 95 SOUTH MAJOR HIGHWAY THE BLEEPING HOOD FLIES UP AND ALMOST SMASHED THE WINDSHIELD AND CAUSED A MASSIVE ACCIDENT BUT THEN CHARGES ME TO 59.74 THEN ANOTHER 45.00 AND OF COARSE THE 20 $FEE . SHALL I SAY MORE....OH FOR 5 HRS WITHIN 10 MILES OF 2 LOCATIONS DRIVEN 1THERE N THEN BACK TO UHAUL. THIS PLACE IS A RIP OFF A DISGRACE AND DIS HONEST TO THE FULLEST.Bethany W.

We picked up the UHaul with only 3/8 of a tank of gas. It worked out fine, but it was a little frustrating to try to figure out how much gas we used so we could return it with the same amount.Jordan L.
Extremely rude and unprofessional staff. The â€œassistant managerâ€ was dropping f bombs and swearing through the entire bizarre process. The â€œmanagerâ€ was just laughing along, didn't even remotely try to insinuate that they might want to clean it up as a customer was there. Just awful.Evan D.
Horrible customer service rep. There was a misunderstanding, which it turns out was easy to fix. Instead of saying "Oh, there was a mistake, but let's fix it" I was accused of stealing a van. She was rude and unprofessional. Terrible rep and I will never use this location again.Brian G.
