I am not a regular UHaul user even though I will be because my son is now in college. This was my first time using UHaul to move my son home from college for Summer Break. I went online and made a reservation. The system would not let me complete the process at the final step. I clicked on chat and waited and waited and waited. I saw that I received a confirmation via email so I ended chat and went on about my business. At the appointed day and time I arrived at the Colonial Fort Myers location and was basically told that since I did this online they could not help me and I needed to step outside and handle it myself. I was having a hard time logging in and said so, no help. In fact the manager was rude and seemed angry. He was helping someone else and made me feel like I was bothering him. The system was not recognizing my email address (probably because of the aforementioned issue) and so I created an account again using the same information and then logged in. I felt like I was going in circles and told the manager I was really having a hard time is there anyway he can help me. He replied that he was not allowed to help with online reservations unless the customer asked. I explained that I just did and asked him if he was having a bad day because his tone was really rude. He said when he was free he would help. Well, by that time I finally had it figured out after, not kidding, 20 minutes of trying to get it done online. THEN I experienced what I guess all online customers do ...the scavenger hunt of figuring out where the truck is, where to park your car, wheres the key, take pictures of myself, my id, the truck, validate my identify with "dial a friend", take a pic of the mileage, sheesh. I felt like I worked there. The truck itself was great and returning it was not too bad except it was pouring rain but I still had to take photos of the cab, the back of the van. Seriously, the worst customer service experience ever! Ever! Actually, there was no customer service. Online people should get a discount for what we have to go through.Even though I prefer technology, next time I will just telephone a reservation and make the people help me. But I will not go back to this location where the manager clearly hates his job. Or maybe he hates online people.

Your welcome to have the store personnel verify the behavior of the branch manager of the renting location. In his immaturity perhaps he didn’t comprehend the function of a speaker phone. I ask the DM/RM for Ft myers to bring ice cream cones from DQ next door to all 3-4 employees here. Top notch. Class act. They were embarrassed for the brand too when they realized I heard every word and laugh. Call me, let’s discuss your team’s excellent customer service which was evident start to finish and clearly a direct result of proper leadership. I travel to this market monthly and rent large truck and dolly. Let’s set up a corporate account with billing options

The only thing was it was raining when we got back and when we were unloading the stuff in the unit the floor was getting wet and dirty. I am not sure if a shelter can be put over the area or something they can do about rain/weather situations so the unit doesn’t get wet. Maybe I just need an inside storage facility with AC.

The van leaked when it rained so it was not good when I got out of the van soaking wet. The woman at the front desk was awesome. The day before I was supposed to return the truck I got a threatening phone call that said my van needed to be returned by 5:30 pm on Thursday or they would report the van stolen. The van wasn't due until 10am the next morning (I rented it for 2 weeks). That call was also made to a family member. It was quite humiliating, especially since I am always very punctual (as i own a business here in town).
