The man who waited on us had the nastiest, dirtiest, grimiest hands I've seen in a long time. I understand he is working on trucks, etc., but when you are waiting on customers, especially during a pandemic, it is unsettling to think of how long it must have been since he washed his hands. Wear gloves, something! Then, the other two had to touch the same surfaces he touched. Gross!
The lady that was there when I turned the van in was rude and not helpful at all. She was working on Wednesday around 2.30 in the afternoon. Would not send any business your way cause of that.
Very easy process. We were able to haul a fair amount in a 6X9 trailer! And the hydraulic brakes on the trailer made me feel a lot safer going through the mountains!

Get a manager that knows what they're doing
We returned the truck the night before it was due, but store was closed. Uhauls online check in by phone process was a nightmare; we couldnt get it to work on our smartphones, and no one would answer the phone to talk us through it. So we had to come back the next day, and mistakenly got a bill for returning the truck a day late!!! I guess they realized their mistake since I havent got another bill. Uhaul needs to improve on this. My first ever rental wasnt good because of the return process.
The lady that helped us determine what specific size Uhaul we needed was wonderful and very customer oriented. The gentleman at pick up was very rude and condescending and not very people friendly and only seemed to want to go outside to smoke. The gentleman at drop off after our reservation was phenomenal- appears he needs to train the other gentleman how to do customer service.
The employees at the drop off location went above and beyond because they were closing up as we got there but stayed when I could not get my check in by phone to work. I do however feel U-Haul is a little on expensive side. I moved 36 miles and paid right 150 in the small truck. They need to come up with a better pricing system based on distance.
Nothing to improve on. Seamless. I held up my end by not breaking it and it they made it easy to do what I needed for a fair price as well as making sure I didn't break anything by verifying from pics taken before I left and pics upon turn in.
I am very upset. I did not receive any instructions about how to operate the truck, how to return the truck, etc. The lady who helped us pulled the truck up, left the keys inside, and went back into the building. We had to shout after her to ask if we were all set. Then, I get charged a $25 cleaning fee and told it was to fold blankets and sweep. Ridiculous. I would like my $25 refunded.
The day of pickup I was disappointed that I was unable to pick up my truck using my mobile phone. I got so far as to take my picture and then got the message that it was "unable to process and to try again later." So I had to go inside and work with a representative. You need to fix your system, esp in this time of covid.
Clean, and check the condition of the very expensive rental trucks before you rent them out. The truck was filthy, I had tire separation in "literally" the middle of no where. I sat for over three hours waiting for help, and delayed my arrival, in Butte, WITH movers scheduled, and waiting. More expensive lodging and eating expensive restaurants. ETC. All u haul did was pay for one nights lodging, as to say my time, and all the people waiting for me was not worth anything. Not to mention the extra money it takes every day a person is delayed. Not a happy customer.

Confirm starting mileage before leaving.
My experience at both the final pick-up and drop off locations was positive. All of my issues came from what occurred before those times. I rented a 10' UHaul and Vehicle Trailer to tow a recent car purchase about 450 miles. Finalizing the purchase of the car the same day I wasn't able to book the trip multiple days in advance. Upon arriving at the first pick-up location I was informed that it was closed due to Covid-19 and that I would have to drive to another location. I would like to know why this wasn't noted while booking my rental. Once I got to the second location I was informed that only 20 and 26 foot trucks were available. I declined the longer vehicles and was told I could have a 10 foot truck if I waited an hour. I left the location and got some food waiting for the 10 foot truck to return. After an hour had passed I returned to the 2nd location only to be informed that the 10 foot truck would not be returned today. They recommended I drive to a 3rd location, although they did not believe the 3rd location had any 10 foot trucks. Upon arriving at the 3rd location was provided with a 15 foot truck which I accepted. After accepting the 15 foot truck, the staff encountered computer issues which wouldn't allow the 20 foot truck from the previous location to be removed from my account. After several hours and three locations I was finally able to get on the road. Once I completed my trip I went to return the vehicle to the location indicated on my updated order. Upon arriving at that location I was informed that they do not accept trailers or trucks that large. The gentlemen I spoke with suggested I try driving to another location in the city but noted that he wasn't sure what locations were open or if they would accept the equipment either. After less than 24 hours and 5 UHaul locations later I was finally able to return my equipment. Most of the staff I dealt with was friendly, but it is apparent that UHaul and their corporate systems are completely unorganized.
Hire some friendly people who are honest!
I was in the location several times over a 2 week period trying to rent a cargo van. Every time I went I spoke to a different person, and each one told me something different. It was very frustrating and a huge inconvenience.
What a mess I been through the week... it started out Monday June 1 renting a uhal that I planned to only pay 19.95 plus tax then the girl talked me into insurance for ten dollars and then I had to estimate my miles and I put 30...so that still was okay abouT $50... Well turned it back in on June 2 to a nightmare the girl checking me in was on her phone and some how charged me over $300... well guess what I only had 250 in my checking then she throws me my receipt saying it's fixed... oooo to my surprise it wasn't fixed then u all charge me anothe 300$ on June 4 overdrafting my account once again.. Took me a whole week on the phone over six hours with my bank to get over 600$ back on my account after only suppose to end up paying $45 after miles and check in... this was a terrible experience and never once heard from ur company to even apologize for my hell week...
