Not a lot of options with the multiple choice and I would like to be as fair as possible so I used the N/A options. Service was fine and friendly. The rental price seemed great for what I needed. Pick up went pretty smooth. The problem with me lied in the return of the trailer. I don't want to bore you with the details of my return (after hours) but to simplify, I ended up going there twice as I left my phone home and that seemed to be the best option to return without extra fees. After spending a good 20 minutes in the parking lot, creating an account and going through the website to return the trailer I was told at the very end that I would be charged 20 dollars for returning after hours. The entire rental was only 28 dollars to begin with. Not being sure why it should cost 20 bucks to return it with no one there. I declined the fee and was told someone would contact me. Well no one ever contacted me and than I finally got the receipt in an email with no extra charge. So it ended okay. I just wish communication was a little better for the sake of my blood pressure. I'm not sure what the fee is for as I would think it's easier for you to take a return without an employee. Especially when it says right in the app to take a picture of the trailer so the next family can know where to pick up the trailer that is going to rent. Cleary no employee is needed between rentals at all this way. So yeah.... lets charge another 20 bucks. Thing is, I only needed the trailer for a few hours and purposely scheduled a later drop off to avoid unnecessary contact (covid). If someone had told me it was going to cost almost double to do that, I would have just returned it earlier. Even if I kept it till the next day and dropped it off, it would've been cheaper. I've had less stress, dropping off 60 thousand dollar cars at night. Not sure why a 5x9 trailer should be so difficult. U Haul has been around my entire life. Kind of an icon in the truck rental world to me. I trusted U Haul and think of them as a classy company with no gimmicks. Seems like no one just wants to supply a good service at a fair price anymore. Everyone needs to trick you into giving them more money these day's. I'm a little disappointed. Make it a rule that the manager insist upon all customers wear face masks CORRECTLY when inside the building. I was alarmed that manager supported another customer in not wearing his mask up over his nose. I have COPD and hate wearing a mask, but I do for others safety. Used the â€œconvenientâ€ option of renting through the app and getting my keys via lockbox, except when I went to get my keys, I waited for 15 min outside for a code that never came. Finally, I went inside to see if the person inside can help me which they did, but when I asked why I couldn't get my keys from the lockbox I was told â€œwe keep the keys insideâ€. That completely negates their â€œconvenientâ€ option. I wanted to have as little contact as possible with anyone and that didn't happen. Definitely not convenient. Then, when I went to return the vehicle, the person comes into the truck and says â€œyou're all setâ€, no receipt or anything. It's been 10 hours since the return and still no receipt. No where in my email, no where on the app..., not very happy with the process or service.Savitree R.

I had arranged/reserved a different pickup location near my home. At 7am the day of pickup, I received a voicemail from that location advising they did not have a trailer available and that they would change to the new location, and to call the original office back. I called at around 7:20am, was routed to the national number with an estimated hold time of 20 minutes. 25 minutes and 411 automated Uhaul commercials later, I hung up. I tried again around 8:15am, same experience. It was very frustrating. In the end, I took a chance that the trailer would be available (the impression I had was that I needed to verify the new location) and everything worked out fine. Service was quick, friendly and I was on my way. I've used the location (original) many times over the years and enjoy working with them. I understand things can come up and perhaps I should have assumed all would be fine, but extended hold times when no one ever picked up, when the reservation has changed the day of pickup was not reassuring at all.Timothy O.

I dont understand why, but i had to pay 3 times. I paid online to reserve my trailer, i paid again to pick up the trailer, and then paid to drop it off. I was quoted $50ish for the rental and ended up paying $125. Not happy.Tiasean E.

The truck it self was not great, but it did the job. The staff in colonie was fantastic though. The pick up and drop off was incredibly easy! Absolutely perfect customer service. More help with arriving at costs to replaced used fuel. I went 12 miles. It did not look like the fuel needle moved at all. But I put $5 in. I felt I really didn't have to. You need a system to accurately state how much fuel needs to be replaced. Secondly, you need another step on the driver side of the truck. I have bad knees arthritis and was really in shock there was no assistive device like another step to get from the ground into the drivers seat. A lot of the population is aging and we have stiff joints and can not jump on and out of these trucks. Why can you include a detachment step or another device? I'm luckily I got out of the truck without breaking my ankle.MARYTHERESA B.
