For those seeking a four-year degree, Texas A&M University – Central Texas (TAMUCT) is an upper division college and primarily serves non-traditional students. Unfortunately, TAMUCT has no on-campus housing options, but due to the nature of the population in the area, Killeen has numerous housing options around the city.
  • Things to Do – Once you’re settled, take some time to explore Killeen and the surrounding areas. Fort Hood has two museums on post, the 1st Cavalry museum and the 3rd Armored Calvary museum. Much of the city is centered on this military post, and you’ll get a glimpse into the history of the units based out of here. It is free admission, but if you’re not military, you’ll need your license, registration, and insurance to get on post. For some cultural stimulation, the Vive Les Arts Community Center regularly hosts various plays, musicals, and performances. And if you want to get away for a day or two, Austin is just over an hour away while Dallas is about two and a half hours away.
