  • Getting There – There are a variety of routes you can use to get into Henderson. If you are coming from southern California, Interstate 15 will take you from Los Angeles into the Las Vegas area. If you are driving from the Northeast, Interstate 70 from Denver merges with Interstate 15 south of Salt Lake City; both will bring you directly into the Vegas metro area. Coming from southeastern states, the most direct route is Interstate 40 from Oklahoma City, through Albuquerque and then north on Highway 93 from Kingman, AZ. If you take HWY 93; you will be crossing the new Hoover Dam Bypass that opened in 2010, think about taking a break from driving and take the family to a Hoover Dam tour.
  • Choosing a Neighborhood – Henderson is a great city to live. With low crime rates, this is a wonderful setting for raising young children. Green Valley North and Green Valley South both have high livability ratings. On the north side of Henderson, the Whitney Ranch neighborhood offers great shopping, numerous parks and trails, and multiple grocery stores, all roughly within a one-mile radius.
  • Henderson Schooling – Many schools in Henderson have received very high marks for their curriculum and education standards. However, a few stand out from the crowd. The McCaw School has recreated a large mine on its campus where students give tours, while Vanderburg Elementary School has a rainforest biosphere which helps students study much more than just on traditional school grounds.
  • Family-Friendly Fun – There are many things to do in Henderson once you move in. A few of the better-known attractions include: The Clark County Heritage Museum, the Nevada Vintage Race Car Museum, Ethel M Chocolates Factory and Cactus Garden, and the Hoover Dam. If you’re looking for a thrill, check out the Lion Habitat Ranch where MGM lions go to retire, or soar the skies with Maverick Airlines Tours, where you will experience breathtaking aerial views of the Grand Canyon. If you enjoy boating or being on the water, Lake Mead is the place you want to be. There are also casinos in the area, so if you need someone to watch the kids while you play, Kids Quest may be one of the best hourly childcare providers in Henderson, providing a fun, safe and active environment.
