Rudest woman waited on me. She didn't know her job and was extremely rude. Another worker had to step in and assist.

Young man who was working in the equipment yard was super nice, fast and efficient, and made the experience very enjoyable. Greatly appreciate his professionalism and great spirit. Job well done!

Quick in and out, great customer service.

I had reserved a van for after-hours pickup. I twice during business hours called UHaul customer service to confirm that after-hours pickup was set and that the van would be ready. The first operator, after checking with his supervisor, assured me that a pickup code would appear on the UHaul android app that evening after business hours. The second customer service rep reiterated the same. When I arrived for after-hours pickup the app showed my reservation but no information or link that would allow me to pick up the van. I spent MORE THAN AN HOUR on the phone in a third customer service call, phone battery running down to nothing, to learn that the location staff hadn't prepared the van for after-hours pickup. Finally the very good representative on that call found a truck available for after-hours. They canceled my original reservation and I reserved the truck, and picked that up. But I didn't need a truck. I wanted a van. The truck is more difficult to park on city streets. It uses more gas. When empty it bounces around on the freeway. It was a rotten experience.

I wanted to get in and out very quickly - they did just that! The staff was very helpful with my questions. Be sure to read the fine print in the event you go a minute over any of the estimated time you initially gave during the reservation process.

The customer service reps (phone and in store) were friendly, polite, and helpful. I will definitely use U-Haul of Capitol Hill again for a local move.

I had an excellent experience. The staff was so efficient and professional. I used the self-serve app on my cell phone and it took about five minutes to get the key to my truck after I arrived at the rental center. My rental was almost new. I will use them again in the future.

Truck drop off is chaotic ... not enough room - need somebody there to facilitate

We all know the kind of customer service that feels phony and insulting: for example, when bank reps mollify you with sweet politeness instead of opening another window and keeping the line moving; or companies that don’t take responsibility for their internal problems and instead extract fees from their customers. When they can’t hide tricks with smoke & mirrors in their contracts, they use fine print. It’s unpleasant to expect an edge or nick or in the case of a dispute, steel yourself for a tense encounter. Not so at 26 K. When the housing for the driver side mirror fell out, I saved the parts and called U-haul. When I returned the truck after my move, and they saw the fasteners, they could see that it was a accident waiting to happen. I was charged no fee because I had signed up for the Safe Move insurance. I left feeling very relieved and assured that the matter was resolved. U-haul in my opinion does a fine job in hiring people who are competent and have good people smarts. It’s so refreshing to see customer service based on skills, problem solving and good communication. They are straightforward to deal with: the store manager’s name is on the door, and each person is part of a coordinating team that gets things done. Do not underestimate what it takes to do this job well. There’s a lot of logistics going on in a busy downtown location with a tight parking lot, lots of varied equipment, and clients with little time and patience. The lots at other locations such as Bladensburg or 5th Street NE are roomy in comparison. BTW: The truck was ready for me so that when I arrived at opening time (0700), it was prepped and positioned to move out of the lot. At 0703, I was on the road with the A/C on high.

I purchased the optional insurance on the truck. The day after I returned the truck, I received an invoice for $153 because of body damage. Apparently, I'm responsible for he first $150 in damages. But, I did not damage the truck at all. I think it's a scam to pad the bill. I'm contesting the charge.

Easy and convenient if you are moving in DC. Just a short walk from Union Station. Clean and new equipment.

Felt like I needed to hang on to my wallet. Then the shake down began. Did I have the gas at the right level. Yes. Did I fold the pads? Uh, ya'll don't wash them and put them into new packs of 6 or 10 or 12? This is the last time I will ever rent a UHaul. And I will invest in and actively help your competition in every way I can. The most pitifully inadequate experience of renting anything I have ever had. Ya'll are the Sears of truck rental.

Hello, It has been a few days since the completion of my move, June 30 - July 1, however, it is the first time I have had a chance to sit down and gather my thoughts. Here is a description of what happened: My husband, Robert and I made a reservation on Tuesday, June 27 for a June 30 move and storage date. I commend U-Haul on the ease in using the U-Haul website. Your mobile interface worked particularly well to reserve my 15’ truck and storage unit. I liked the prompt at the top alerting me to the fact that I would get a free month’s storage given the details of my order. I was going to use another storage company but elected to take you up on this offer. However, I am not sure where to look for this, on my bill or when to expect it. Please, let me know the details on this special. When we made the reservation, we selected Chamberlain Movers, contracted through U-Haul, to complete the move. I was told the moving company would call me to arrange the details or I could call them. I waited to hear from them but when I did not called the afternoon following my reservation, Wednesday, June 28. I was told by their representative (a woman) I would hear from them later that evening or she would call. I heard from neither party. The following day, I called the company again and was told the movers would call me shortly. They did. I wanted a 2:00 p.m. move since I had arranged to pick up our truck at 12:00 p.m. from the U-Haul Moving and Storage of Intown, 2215 5th Street Northeast, Washington, DC 20002 (also the location of the storage unit). Given the back and forth with arrangements, they could not do my move then and asked for 3:00 p.m. I agreed and went into the website to change the pick up time of my truck. When I made the change to a 2:30 p.m. pick up time, the website automatically put me into a 17’ truck and changed the location of the pick up to U-Haul Moving and Storage of Capitol Hill, 26 K Street Northeast, Washington, DC 20002. Hmmmm… Ok…. All went along as planned for a little while; I went to the Intown facility early in the day on June 30 to complete my contract for my storage unit and everyone at that facility, by the way, was absolutely FANTASTIC during every part of this move. I then went to the Capitol Hill location to pick up the truck and they were also lovely. I made it to the first location to meet the movers. As is often the case, things can get delayed and I got a call at 2:50 p.m. from the movers saying they would be a little late, arriving at 3:15 p.m. I was fine with that and said so but they never called me again. I called them at 4:00 and it went to voice mail, called them again at 4:15 and again got voice mail. They called back at 4:17 telling me they were parking and walking over. However, they did not actually arrive until well after 4:30 p.m. This was worrisome since the storage facility closes at 8:00 p.m. on Fridays. The move at the first location (which only had a few thi

More area for customer puck up and drop off. Also, ignition stuck each time I had to start vehicle. Drop off attendant, indicated that it was due to the equipment (GM) and hot weather. Seems like there should be a mfg. fix

Van was dirty inside, there were food leftovers in the document compartment and drink spill over the center console. It is unfriendly to the customer to deliver the vehicle with a half-full tank of fuel; I did not know how much fuel I was going to need and delivered the car back with more than half a tank extra than what I received with -- this amounts to an extra charge of $20 -- and is extremely annoying and quite frankly, a ripoff.

If you have to drop off a truck after hours i would not go to this location. There was no drop box there to drop a key after hours and there is no actual store. Just a lot full of trucks.
