Cargo bay was soaking wet. 2 hour delay to get dry truck. No apologies. Delay cost me extra day of truck rental.

The staff and customer service at Smith's were great and the truck was clean, but the transmission is potentially dangerous. At one point while I was braking in stop-and-go traffic, the engine did not disengage and the truck kept driving forward - it was fighting against the brakes and continued moving no matter what I did. Had I not shifted into neutral, the truck would have pushed into the vehicle in front of me. Please see that this is fixed - the next person may not think to pop it into neutral.

We had an absolutely outstanding experience with this rental agent! All around fantastic service! Superior vehicle-nearly new! Especially impressed that they called us once each day the second day before and the day before confirming our reservation! It was the first time we'd ever been called by a truck rental service confirming. The location that we really should be rating is the one in SanRafael that we made reservations at 2 months in advance. Then there was no trailer available -- so we had to drive two hours out of our way to pick this one up. Poor customer service on the part of San Rafael.

I had medical emergency and was hospitalized the day after renting the truck. The folks at Smith's were very imderstandong when I brought the truck back over 2 weeks late. Although I now owe a large sum of money I appreciate the kindness I was shown at Smith's. Having a disease that makes falling inevitable ive suffered some bad injuries and almost worse I've suffered some bad financial trauma in similar situations. I am hoping for understanding from the Uhaul corporation as I received from the staff at Smith's. Thank you for your time, J.Kelley

Rented a van from Smith's before and it was a good experience. However, this time we received an email confirmation as to the day/time our trailer would be ready for pick-up and ended up having to wait far too long for it to be turned in by another party. Worse, we were initially told they didn't have the one we had reserved and didn't have any available of the size we needed. We did not know what we were going to do and had a deadline to meet. Super stressful experience. No problems once we got the trailer.

The problem was not the service location. The problem was the reservation service system, which led me to need two pick-up locations far apart, despite Smiths actually having all the equipment I needed. My pick-up experience was dismal, taking over half a day (10AM to 4PM) for what should have taken one quick trip. Fortunately, I did manage to get what I needed on the day I needed it (but at 4PM rather than 9AM, with multiple trips required!)

Had a problem with my bill (overcharged on miles and gas). I tried to contact customer service but waited for 20 minutes on hold only to have a customer service agent pick up and then ignore me for 15 minutes until I eventually hung up. I was not rude one bit and was merely trying to correct my bill. Moral of the story is if you plan to use Uhaul then expect to get robbed.

The customer service was terrible for me as a first time customer. The person gave me the keys and said I didn't have to start it with the brake on, and to press the button if the yellow light came on. I had to really push them to tell me more, like how is the back opened and closed? What yellow light? What button? It was very unprofessional. What should be done is customers should be asked if they have driven a uhaul before, was it the same model? If yes and yes, they should give the person a few safety reminders and the key. If the customer is new or unfamiliar with the model, the vehicle should be demonstrated front to back, pointing out lights, parking brake, and any features a typical passenger car doesn't have. Then the rear door opening and closing, and use of the ramp should be shown. The customer should be asked if they have any other questions and then given the keys. This method is likely to keep vehicles in better condition and prevent accidents and injuries.

The covered 8 x 5 trailer had while powder dust all over the inside fioor. When we were loading we had white chalking substance all over our equip music covered music. I had to unload what I put in ; then wet mop the inside myself prior to loading it with all of our music equipment We were using the trailer for musical instruments to be hauled to our Gig. I love the trailer size. It is the second time in two weeks renting this size. Just wish it was cleaned before picking up. It would n't have been good for moving household stuff like beds and couches........so the uhaul rep should make certain it's clean before renting.

I needed a two day rental due to logistics. Check out was at 11:00 am so no lines. I returned the truck the following day around 5:15 pm. I was promptly checked in. There was a line and everyone was pleasant and professional and efficient.
