The truck was dirty and damaged when I received it. The contactless pick up did not go well, I ended up having to switch to picking up in the store because it was not explained that my "alternative contact" needed to be someone other than myself or my husband who was driving the truck.
Matthew Brooks was especially helpful and patient.
Everything was great. Got the job done and everything worked as expected. The pre checkin on the web worked fine and saved time when I picked up. The return was quick and easy and I was on my way.

When I picked up the tow trailer, I was not informed that I would need to return the tow trailer by 5:00 pm. The U-Hual representative at the Redding office was fully aware that I was on my way to Sacramento (2 1/2 hours away or 180 miles). He did not tell me that I needed to return the trailer to the U-Haul location by 5:00 pm or that I would not to be stuck with the trailer for another day. There was a complete lack of communication. As a result, we had to hurry up to beat the 5:00 pm deadline or be stuck with towing an empty trailer back to Redding. We made it to the drop off location by 5 minutes. I reserved this tow trailer on Friday (1/8/21). I gave the U-Haul representative the information to the pick up and drop off location. She did not tell me that the reservation was not "guaranteed." After confirming the reservation, I made plans for borrowing a truck and obtaining a driver. Hours later, I was told that the tow trailer was no longer available for Saturday (1/9/21). I was told that I could drive 100 miles out of my way (Oroville, CA) to pick up a trailer. I was stunned and upset. There went my plans for Saturday. The trip to Oroville would have turned into a 3 1/2 hour round trip and then load up a car and drive 3 hours to Sacramento. Since my Saturday plans were ruined, I had no choice but to reseve another tow trailer for Sunday (1/10/21). Worse yet, the tow trailer was not available until 12:30 pm. I would have to wait half the day to get the trailer. Later that day (1/9/21), I called U-Haul to voice my displeasure. The operator told me that the issue had to do with the Redding location not wanting to give up the tow trailer to another location. Wow. When I went to pick up the tow trailer, the representative did not tell me that I would need to drop off this trailer by 5:00 pm or be stuck with the trailer for another day. The only reason I realized that I had to hurry up was because my nephew (driver) told me the stipulations regarding a trailer. There was a complete failure to communicate with me. The reservation process was ineffective and the failure to tell me there was a deadline with the tow trailer return was inexcusable. Please review the reservation and speak to the representatives that worked with me.
Brett was terribly rude. I had brought the trailer back early. Brett took it off my car. Then I decided to keep the same trailer fir 24 hours. He acted as though I was troubling him when I ask to put the trailer back on my car. Rude employee.

On your website when I tried to rent a open top cargo trailer and wanted to drop it off at a different location it just said unavailable when it should have told me must be returned to same location as rented and the process would be easier to figure out. Otherwise it was all good.

There wasn't anyone in the store for five minutes, could have stole you blind. Then when the check "engine light " came on it took 45 minutes for road side assistance to finally answer the phone and they just assisted me in hating this rental experience even more. Plain and simple get more people to run your service based business. No employees=no service, no service =no business. Do the math.
Use Cypress drop off a lot they always have fast and friendly staff to take care of service.

Have more people dedicated to returns. I was in line more than 1/2 hour waiting to return the truck I rented, and then, still did not get service until I parked the truck and interrupted the manager
Had a problem at first renting the uhaul. My card kept declining when it shouldn't have. Than 2 hrs later finally my card worked, than it was easy. The pick-up truck I rented was not cleaned on the inside and when I went to drop the truck off, at first didn't see the rental drop off spot which I wasn't told i was suppose to pull up to. When I pulled up to the line there was a normal van a lady was driving in front of me who was getting propane and her husband who was already being helped at the propane spot. I sat there for another 15 mins making me late on my check in time. Than the 2 guy employees went up to the van who was already being helped and asked if she was being helped and than looked at me than went inside. About another 15 mins later making this now 30 mins late turning in the truck waiting in line I decided to finally get out of the truck and go inside the 2 employees looked at me and didn't greet me and looked like they didn't want to help they looked down very quickly. One guy I understand had a customer and the other ignored me so I asked him if his line was open he mumbled something and I explained because I was waiting outside in the line I thought I was suppose to wait in line for both of us to check out the truck I rented together I filled the tank to full as well as only put less than 10 miles when I paid for 20 miles I wanted to make sure they got that and get the money back for the miles I paid for he said ill just take those keys and send u a receipt I still haven't recieved and because I was "late" waiting in there line, I wanted to make sure I wasn't charged for a second date the guy said, " Oh, no your good just give me the keys and ill send you a email of your receipt."
Counter help was top notch. Truck was clean, and ran great.

Not a thing. The trailer was perfect for the job I had to do. Everything worked and made the trip without a problem. I have to go back and get more stuff so I'll be renting again!
This was a great experience for us. Staff was personable and friendly. Staff was extremely knowledgable and conveyed quick and confident answers to questions. Time from walking in door, answering questions, signing contract, payment, hooking up trailer and testing connections and lights...was no more than 15 minutes...and I was on my way. I really didn't know what to expect, but am extremely pleased and will not hesitate to use Uhaul again in the future.
