While I guess it was my fault for not checking the mileage and gas, I’m still furious that I was charged for 70 miles when I only went about 15. I trust that what’s on the paperwork is going to be correct and that customers won’t be taken advantage of because they don’t check the paperwork versus the odometer. It’s the job of the location to get it right, not the customer. When the owner of the place said, “we’re covered in our end” I just about lost it, because getting paperwork wrong does not mean that you’re covered... it means you’re taking advantage of customers. I actually went back to the location later that day to apologize for being so rude and noticed she mentions it happens “hundreds of times a day”. If it’s truly happening that frequently then I can only surmise that they’re not good at putting the correct mileage and gas on the paperwork or they just do it on purpose. I am still sorry for being rude while I was there, but very upset for having to pay more that I should have and essentially being called a liar, by suggesting I drove more than I actually did.

I informed them (Nicole the mgr and others) that the truck was not completely full of fuel upon my departure. The fuel gauge come off of full shortly after leaving the facility (I refilled the vehicle with 3.8 gallons of fuel for only driving 19 miles). Also the truck had the check engine light illuminated before my rental departure (when the truck was delivered, running and idling in front of the store by an employee). Nicole stated that all this should have been reported before I left or I should have called or returned the vehicle for another. I thought some sort of discount or financial compensation could be agreed upon my return of the vehicle (2 1/2 hours after rental departure), but Nicole was not agreeable. The entire tone was "you agreed with the condition of the vehicle before you departed the facility, so all is on you the customer and not the responsibility of U-Haul". I was disappointed in this lack of desire to provide 100% customer satisfaction. I would have been happy with a $5.00 discount for excessive fuel I needed to purchase for refueling the vehicle, but Nicole never asked what U-Haul could do to make the situation right for me, the renter.

Unit provided was too old, beat to hell and pulled like dragging an anchor. I burned 5 gallons of fuel and only drove 42 miles.
