The process was really bad. There was just one person dealing with all calls and customer support. In the piddle of the pickup call (waiting outside) the person put me on hold for 5 mins because someone else was calling about a rental (sale)
I have rented from other UHaul locations many times, first time at this location and also the last. I was reassigned to this location from my preferred location after booking due to equipment availability issues. The owner/operator was very unhelpful and abrupt/rude. He gave very poor instructions on how to proceed in picking up the rental, leading to a confusing experience at pickup. Then I was unexpectedly charged 50% in extra fees without warning after dropping off my rental, the first time I have ever been dinged for extra fees at any U-Haul location. Next time I'll rent elsewhere.
The App was a bit difficult to understand/follow but once I started dealing with the on site person, the experience became much better.

I have been renting UHauk on a regular basis. this is one U Haul that I will never go back again, and i would advise any one that wanted to rent an U Haul never to go to this rental site. It is a rip off artist. Be aware.

Product was never provided, and you charged me for it.
The location was hard to find, not well signed, and there is no waiting area. The checkin is a window. I did appreciate the flexibility to chose which unit I wanted from the available options. I do not like the liftgate options, so I was happy to get one with split doors.
No improvements required. Have rented from this location many a time and find the service excellent and vehicles clean. The owner is super friendly and helpful.
Super Tom is always great. I go out of my way. Drive a little further to rent from him instead of other uhauls. 11/10, 5 stars to super Tom!
My pick up location was changed from Almonte to Kanata. I received the first email about pickup in Almonte and 2 revision emails with different confirmation numbers. I received a phone call telling me I could only have the van until 2:30 pm and then the contract came through stating 24 hrs. It was all really confusing.
For the most part everything was O K. A little frustrating at times because I am in an age group that has trouble with all this technology ,text messages, pictures from ones phone ,etc. etc.
The truck smelled like smoke and when I flipped the visor a pack of cigarettes fell from it. The barcode scanner didnt work causing me and another client to wait for everything to be done manually. Other than that it was fine.
The guy was very rude. Says he doesn't care about my schedule and how it took iver a hour just to get the u-haul dolly because he didn't want to move the moving truck in the way
The address for pick up was incorrect I had to go to another location which delayed me one hour
The gentleman running the place was friendly and helpful. Very nice to deal with. I think that truck needs to have the transmission checked, it took a long time to change gears. American vehicle with all signage unilingual english too
The man who spoke with me was rude, overbearing and unhelpful. He also stood too close to me without a mask and I was uncomfortable being that close to someone during this pandemic. A stressful experience.
The bar code did not work when I tried to sign in and get the keys for the truck. I called the 1-800 number and was sent to the French only line. I was transferred numerous times and was given no resolution. After 1.5 hours the gentleman at the location was able to help us. Terrible service. Delayed our entire move. We will not use Uhaul again. Also what is the $25 cleaning fee?
I would make the billing process more transparent. It was confusing as to whether I was on a weekly rate or the rate was arbitrarily chosen. You have to rent a van to understand this confusion. The person I was renting from indicated that they had nothing to do with billing and was pleasant but was reluctant to discuss the financing of the arrangement.
My problem is not at all with the location. The location owner was actually the only good thing about my entire experience. The app for the car rental did not work, requiring at the last minute my passport of a copy of my lease (?). That's after many useless steps of taking my own photos, photos of my driver's license, etc. If the owner hadn't happened to return, I would have ended up without a vehicle. My other problem is with all these hidden charges ($15 for collision damage, which I turned down at the time of the booking, cleaning fee of $25 (really? for a 4 hour rental?!) As they say lesson learned. A uniquely negative experience in my decades of car rental. U Haul is blacklisted for me.
