My furniture pads were not in the truck - when they said "you're all set" I wrongly assumed that included the pads I ordered - when I got home to load the truck was empty - I had to scramble and use my own blankets, comforters, etc. very disappointing - don't take them at their word

Wow, this has got to be the worst reservation experience I've ever had and this is not my first rodeo with UHaul. I previously did all reservations over phone which had no issue. But its 2018 and I'm well versed technically so I gave their online booking a try... what a mistake. The day before my pickup, I got a call from a UHaul about 40 minutes away from my original pickup telling me that they did not have a truck ready for me...huh? Apparently even if you make a reservation, get an email confirmation of pickup location and time, it still doesn't guarantee you get a truck at that location. What's worse is, apparently it doesn't guarantee you ANY truck within a 20 mile radius. This is all less than 24 HOURS before my pickup which I had already received a confirmation for. Don't believe their email confirmations for a second, call in to confirm!!! Luckily their phone support was good and they amended the issue. There's no other way to put it, this Uhaul is located is in a pretty sketchy neighborhood. Their clientele matches the location. Immediately after entering my rental, the driver of the UHaul rental next to me smashes their door into my rental to get out of their truck. Luckily, no damage needed to be reported. The drop-off was a NIGHTMARE. Really I don't think this is any fault of the staff there as they were very courteous but apparently they had no record of my dropping off my vehicle. They said I would be charged a 240$ fee for dropping off my rental there despite the fact that I have already done everything through self-service and already paid for the one-way trip. I had already called an uber to pick me up at this time as all I was supposed to do was drop off my keys. Nope, just 30 minutes of waiting for them to clear up the miscommunication from their online reservation system. That already cost me a cancelled uber and the resulting poor review from the uber driver... At the end of it, nothing was figured out. There was somehow no way for the employees at this location to confirm my drop-off despite me showing them the pick-up and drop-off invoice I just got through the online self-service. This was a terrible experience not because of the staff of this location nor the truck itself, they were both great. It has to do with the terrible online booking service UHaul has.

Sent me to the wrong location. My order was confirmed for a different pick up location and I waited there for 30 mins before realizing that they were closed. Went to next location and they didn’t have the size I ordered. Can’t find any record of my storage unit rental.

I have used U-Haul for over 25 years for all my moving needs. This location was by far the worst experience ever. It was because there was one employee with a bad attitude that almost caused a road tragedy. This employee whom I do not know his name ( a tall 6’4 African American) said he could not help me when I needed to drive my car on the tow dolly. When another employee from the front desk asked him to help me he said ‘ I suppose I can be a good Boy Scout today and help. Would you like to make a donation to the Boy Scouts today?’ he said! I was shocked! I responded by saying this is your job to help the customer and I already made a donation of $2700 for my trip! He then growled and assisted me to drive my car on the dolly. I drove my car on the dolly but I had a bad feeling as he strapped the belts on to my tires. I was correct because within 5 miles from the Oakland Coliseum location the strap belts that he tied from the dolly to my car tires came undone! If I had not stopped for lunch before getting on the road and noticed the straps undone than there could of been a horrible accident. I had to call roadside assistance and wait 2 hours for someone to come and attach the car and tow dolly correctly. This Oakland employee needs more training on customer service and job related skills. At this time I do not think I will ever use UHaul again. That was a very scary, unpleasant and unprofessional experience.

Great customer service! Store/facility has lots of equipment and capacity. The folks onsite were helpful and friendly. I did not have to wait more than a few minutes to be helped, and more importantly, I was acknowledged as soon as I arrived.

The on-line booking was easy to use and informative; the staff at the location were efficient and pleasant. But I doubt I will rent a van from u-haul again. Dont get me wrong: the van was easy to operate and provided the means to move items from my storage area. But I never felt comfortable driving. Side view was fine but the strange metal honeycomb fixture between the driving area and back blocked my vision. The mirrors were excellent for checking the sides, but I was driving in heavy Bay Area traffic in the rain (hence a van instead of a truck) on 4-laned highways where cars zoomed in and out, I drove the speed limit and stayed inn the right lane to avoid near misses, but i was tense the entire time.

Stop renting trucks that our not up to satifaction, I have gone to different location, and Fremont, Hayward, SF, union city truck are always newer trucks, and when I go to Oakland location, I always get trucks that break down or no hearter or defroster don’t work, old etc, but still pay the same amount that I would pay at the other location. Looks like you send all old and broke down trucks to city of Oakland what is that all about. Good customer service , but the product is not!!!
