the only opportunity for improvement I can suggest would be at the point of delivery or hand off to the customer... when renting a truck and auto transport trailer, you can assume that the majority of the time the trailer will need to be dropped in order to park the truck in a location that the the ramp can be used to load the truck and then reconnect the trailer. Making sure that the customer is comfortable with and understands this important safety process, or at the minimum giving the URL/Web site where the videos explaining this and other important information. I happen to have driven rental trucks and towing equipment many , many times and I am very comfortable with it but I could see where customers might be intimidated and might not ask for the information. So even if the customer says, "Oh, I know, I know.", its ok to point out New Features and benefits of the new trucks or important safety points like disconnecting/reconnecting the trailer. There are some really nice people here, like the guy the checked my return today, some other people are just on a power trip. There was a manager the day when I came in, he first didn't even acknowledge me. He saw me, but didn't say hi, then there was a problem with my quote and he was just so rude about it and sarcastic. It was so uncomfortable. This was my second experience here, I had came in previously to buy so other things and it was the same bad experience where the Manager didn't acknowledge me while the other 2 employees were busy taking helping other costumers. But while waiting for to be help out, another person that was the same race as the manager or supervisor from that day walked in, he immediately acknowledge him and said someone will right with you, when to me the only thing I ve got was a grossed out look.Jose C.

There are several things that I would change first of all hire a staff that cares second why do you rent trucks that have no fuel in them, people don't want to rent trucks and have to find the nearest gas station. And finally if you rent from this location check your receipt they add things that you didn't use or ask for.David M.

The manual (App) Check-In is a joke! I went inside to ask for assistance & was told to look for the rental in the parking lot. After 15-20 mins. and *after* clicking the App to find another rental number (total of 6!!) the rental *still* could not be found. I go back in & had to get an agt to assist WHICH btw, the initial rental was actually PARKED in the Back...unavail for any customer to find. I had a deadline of *8:00am (*my rental rsvp. was at 7am) in RODEO,CA. I finally got the rental, and STILL had to put in gas b/c the rental had gas BELOW the last line and there was no way I could have made my trip to Rodeo let alone downtown Oakland. In sum, the overall customer service was weak from the moment I got there, esp. dealing with, what seems to be an unhappy Agent (*the dude that told me to keep looking outside - Older balding Asian male). I can tell that the "other agents" share/copy the same poor customer service attitude as "that guy." Sorry but not sorry, I was there with my wife and 8 yr. old daughter, and he left a negative/sour taste for family renting from that U-Haul The *Only* PRO was the actual U-Haul Agent (*Young African Amer. Male) that assisted me both getting and receiving my rental. He was more informative, much more friendly and understanding when it comes to the unnecessary trouble of getting a rental. He even advised for the future to skip the App and just go inside. Hmmmm....anyway, I'll give credit when credit is due so kudos to the young man that helped us and thumbs-down overall for the other agents that clearly do not understand the importance of *greeting* (Not one soul said "Good Morning") /*assisting* (Rude beginning from the outset) and *providing* ("Go outside and look for your rental" - Wtf? it wasnt even in the LOT!!)...PILIPINO T.

first off, i was given a faulty truck, where the front left tire literally scraped against the wheel well any time you turned the truck AT ALL. good thing i discovered this myself, as i surely would have been SOL with a flat tire in the middle of nowhere-- no thanks to the much vaunted U-Haul "inspection". somehow the guy managed to bring the truck all the way around the building to drop it off to me without noticing the HORRIBLE noise & smell emanating from the truck in doing so. ok, so, fine, i had to save my own ass to make sure i wasn't rented out faulty equipment that would have surely stranded me in the middle of nowhere, at least the manager would be apologetic about it right? that would be a HUGE nope on that front. rather than apologizing, or even showing even a modicum of remorse or humility, his ONLY response was to instead flatly insist that he "didn't know that the truck was faulty"-- of course you didn't know it was faulty, if you did knowingly rent me a faulty truck that would make you a complete psychopath, but that is NOT MY PROBLEM AS THE CUSTOMER (like seriously, are you fucking kidding me?). and then, to double down on the idiocy, he LUDICROUSLY accused me of "throwing my keys at him", after i tossed the keys onto the counter about six inches from my own bellybutton-- feel free to pull the video tapes from the location in question (Oakland colliseum location) to see the sad, pathetic spectacle for yourself LMAO i was SPEECHLESS that someone would so plainly and obviously lie in front of so many other witnesses who were also standing there-- it was surreal beyond belief, and quite awkward for more than just myself, let's just say. so, other than being rented faulty equipment and nearly driving off the lot to certain roadside troubles down the road (and i have a feeling that my not having bought the insurance would have surely wound up with me being blamed for this enormous blunder on U-Haul's part), and then threatening to have my reservation cancelled because i had the gall to complain about an enormous, glaring problem with the professionalism of their service by a store manager who is a childish asshat, and does not even have the mentality required to run a lemonade stand, much less a serious business franchise, i have no other complaints about the service i received. let's just say that i have already since rented a truck to move stuff around locally, and it was *not* made through this U-Haul branch. I would not wish interaction w/ the Oakland Colliseum U-Haul branch on my worst enemy.Keegan P.

I booked the truck over the phone to be picked up at 7:30am. When I got there no truck was available til 3pm. Plus, I had moving help to rearrange due to the delay. I returned at 3pm to be told the same thing with an attitude. After insisting again and again, a truck was found for me. In the end, it worked out but my experience as just awful.Mirna G.
When my initial reservation cargo van was not ready at a different location, I was sent here to 8000 San Leandro St. The service here was fast and the van was clean and ready to go. The staff were friendly, informative and quick.JOHN F.

First truck "reserved" at the International location was a 15' at 11:00 on Saturday. Delayed until 5:00 (!) and ended up being a 10' truck (!!). This ended up being broken into in front of our house and the perps destroyed the ignition key hole. Unusable and not towed until well after 5:00 on Sunday. With the second truck from this location, the check engine light went on halfway back to my house and a piston failed. Needed the truck desperately so didn't care. The whole process delayed my move by two days (no fault on the locations for the break in on the first truck.) Glad I didn't need to be out by Tuesday because I would have been screwed!BRUCE M.
