Mngr. Les and team were Fantastic, and didn't make us 70 year olds drive to Gilroy to get 20 ft Truck. Les gave us a great deal & mileage package, if we returned truck to S. Grimmer U-Haul, Fremont. Superb Customer Service. Totally followed Covid procedures, we felt safe. We will refer friends to U-Haul and this location.


Had reservations at the Pleasanton location however truck did not come in the night before After calling the help line they found a truck at Fremont Grimmer location After that everything went well

The left signal/brake light was not functioning. Someone told me that my signal was not working and that I was making lane changes with no signal to other drivers. That was a safety concern that proper inspection by U-Haul should have been done prior to giving me the vehicle. No doubt and potential liability.

First off I wanted to comment on how clean and well put together this store was. The staff was friendly and amazing. Other than having to pick up the truck in a different location that originally planned, which is to no fault of the Fremont store, everything went well. They made the process and my move as quick easy as possible from pick up to drop off, as it should be when you are moving. I will be returning to this store.

When arriving, there was only one person working and when I dropped the truck off 8 hours later there was still one person and the same one from the morning. I was never told I would receive a text message asking me to lookover the truck before leaving the parking lot to note any damages, mileage, or fuel level ( which was not correct). Once I got home and seen the text for the condition questionnaire it would not allow me to enter the photo I took before leaving the lot. It is sad that during this pandemic, U-Haul has not implemented a clean vehicle program that comforts customers when renting. The truck was not dirty but it also was not clean to a point that I was comfortable it had been sanitized after its last use. I took time at home cleaning the knobs, buttons, handles, steering wheel and other items before putting my family in to it.

I have no location specific comments. I will not be using U-haul again due to your outdated reservation systems. I should not find out day of that my uhaul is reserved out of my town. Both times I have reserved uhauls they have added 30min-2 HOURS! to my long moving day. Unacceptable. Update your systems to keep track of stock the way most other modern companies (rental truck or otherwise) use.

This was the absolute WORST customer experience I have ever had. If you are considering U-haul, please do not go. We had our truck reserved in San Francisco, CA for weeks, and on the day before our move, they called us to let us know that our truck was ready in Nevada!! That is a 5.5 hour drive away from us, and to no surprise, we didn't have time for an 11 hour road trip. The customer service rep we spoke to was so rude and unhelpful, and he told us they do this often to customers!! I spoke to many friends who had a similar experience, and had to last minute pay thousands of dollars for movers because they weren't told until the night before their move. We were so panicked because we had to move, had already hired movers, and U-haul had completely ruined our plans. I had to spend 5 hours on the phone the night before our move to find an alternative, and FINALLY a woman let us know about a U-haul truck that was an hour away. The truck was much too small for us, so we had to leave our couches and many pieces of furniture behind because U-haul can't keep their word on reservations. They didn't offer us a discount or refund or anything, and we lost so much time and money using U-Haul. To add fuel to the fire, our U-Haul wouldn't start after packing, and we had to ask help to jump it. I will NEVER use U-Haul again.


Overcharged and I have been sitting on the phone for over 45 minutes on hold to clear this up

I would recommend Les and this this location. I wish I lived closer to Fremont. Based on this entire experience, I will be hard pressed to ever use UHaul again. Les went out of his way on my move. Day to make sure I had something to use. UHaul San Rafael sucks. Uhaul customer service for complaints can't do anything, poor performance. Good luck not going out of business.

I was redirected to Fremont to get my truck and there was no mileage adjustment. I was originally requesting a pick up in San Jose, I also recorded my destination and drop off location in advance. Yet the shorted the miles calf and then I got hit with a mileage overage charge. Clearly the overage was all based on location change.
