I had difficulties with almost every step of this process. When I was unable to reach the store directly after multiple attempts, I was directed to a customer service agent in Georgia who took my reservation for a trailer and my credit card information. I then made an appointment and paid for a hitch installment online. Upon arriving at the store for said appointment, I was informed neither my appointment or reservation had been transferred to the store employees. A new appointment time was made and the manager found a different trailer for me to use. After dropping my car off for that appointment, I was told that the hitch shown in their inventory online could not be located. Several hours later, I was offered a truck to accommodate my move. I was told my hitch installment would be taken care of in Anchorage and that the information/payment would be transferred. Upon arrival, the store at Anchorage had no idea of this arrangement. I will say, the folks who helped me were kind enough to make other arrangements for me due to this chain of events. While I recognize and was told (by both in-store employees and customer service folks who answered when the store could not) that this was a busy time of year, it felt like I was a nuisance. At the end of the day, my problem was not with the folks with whom I interacted but with a system that seems inept. I still cannot understand why making reservations with customer service agents who — I am told, have no access to the local availability of items, are able to make reservations or take payment without verification or communication with the specific store. I also cannot understand why customers are allowed to make appointments/reservations and payments online if this does not actually secure an appointment with the store in question. It felt like the employees on-site were scrambling to react to an ineffective process that inconvenienced both the store and the customer.

I called the Fairbanks number and could not get through so a generic call center woman answered. She was very polite and put me on hold to ask my question to someone since she was unsure. She got back on the phone and told me on a one way rental you don't have to wash the outside of the truck and she asked if i needed the one month free storage included in the one way rental. When I returned the truck I was told I should have washed the bugs and dirt off the truck but he was nice and didn't charge me for it! Thank goodness!

I was attended to by Stephen Marshall at the pick-up location. I must say he was one of the most unhelpful condescending persons I've come across. Despite me telling him I was involved in an accident and hence the UHaul to take my vehicle back to my home town he had a demeanour as if he was doing me a favour by letting me take the truck. I did mention to him I was going onto the Haul road/Dalton Hwy North of Coldfoot. He never mentioned once that UHaul does not cover any Mechanical issues on that road. I had to learn that the hard way when I had a flat tire. I am sorry but that was very poor service.

We arrived a half hour after our appointment and just before closing time as my husband had to work late on Wednesday. But we were taken care of! I'm so grateful - the trailer was for a group excursion. We barely made it back in time for our scheduled return at 6:30 pm on Friday, and again U-Haul personnel were there for us.

Lubricate the back rolling door, I could barely shut it with all my weight. Lubricate the driver's and passenger doors. I told this to the guy when I turned vehicle in. When you have employees that commit to helping you move, they need to follow through. I was left "high and dry" with no movers up until the day before I moved. They never called or confirmed nor did they show up Zach and Elijah - very bad rep for the company. When I picked up the vehicle I asked for them to call me and they never followed through.

The employees appeared very unclean. They were very rude and unresponsive to questions. I approached the counter and was met with no greeting. The employee glanced at me then just kept looking at the computer. I initiated all conversations which seemed like a burden to the employees. None of the equipment I ordered with my truck were in it. Instead, it was pointed from inside where I could gather the supplies to put in the truck. Then, when attempting to access my storage unit, my pin would not work. The first employee I consulted about it said he’d reset it and told me try again. The pin still did not work. When I returned, the employee picked up the phone and proceeded to talk to somebody for around 10 minutes, saying nothing to me, until another employee finally stepped in and helped me by walking to the pad with me and attempted to work the problem. I will not only not recommend this location to others, I would advise they stay away. I considered telling customers in the store to leave before they even tried to start. Another person with me, who works in auto-rentals, agreed this was the worst customer service experience he ever had in this industry.

Ever since James retired this location has gone down hill, they do not know how to manage the place always having to wait a long time for someone to be free to help with checking in and out. They need more help or learn how to work faster and make it seem like they care about us in the lobby waiting for service. People leave in frustration watched a man storm out of the place had been waiting longer then me to get some propane bottles filled.

The first day was rough and it resulted in trying to use a different UHaul agent... the manager called(today) and apologized. The second day (Sunday) was a completely different experience and the UHaul rep was very helpful, friendly, and accommodating.

Each person was extremely helpful kind courteous and friendly Best service i’ve ever had!
