I found the U-Haul was not mechanically sound. I asked to not have insurance on the U-Haul while it was parked in Trojan Storage and the girl refused to let me have it without insurance. Yet, a man came in and rented a large U-Haul and he did not need to take insurance. It hurt me financially to pay the extra 14.95 per day. I would appreciate my $14.95 per day insurance reimbursed. We've rented many vans both driving ones and trailers attached to our car over the past 3 years for 2 moves and other reasons in the area, but first time using this location. We had to provide a # of someone who had to answer the phone. It was a busy holiday weekend and this was the first time we'd ever been asked to do that. It was so weird and the girl was SO irritated with us for asking why this and why we had to use our phone to take a pic of the DL and scan it and upload it (they could not do it directly) she asked the other person working there (who was nice!) to take over. If she gets THAT irritated by me asking legit questions when a) I've done this many times in the past and never once had been asked to do either of things and was uncomfortable with both of them (DL for privacy reasons and getting a hold of someone and trying to explain this "emergency" thing) and b) didn't get instructions for all this ahead of time, maybe she shouldn't be in customer service? We were definitely a bit difficult. We admit that. But instead of explaining, she just shrugged and said "that's corp policy". Did not enjoy interacting with her at ALL.

I used the mobile check in. The code given to open the lock box didn’t work. Had to wait 20 minutes for the store opening time at 10 am. The worker arrived 10:10. There was a line of customers waiting for service. She arrived late and not sure of store policy but had her toddler with her who she had to get settled before attending to customers, thus a further delay

I pick up my truck and trailer for cash and make cash deposit, you manager tell me, when i return truck and trailer, they will give me back my cash, but when i return it, they send me just a check on mail, which i can use only about two weeks later.

Initially we were supposed to pick up our covered trailer in Oakland at 1433 55th Ave location at 9am, the day after thanksgiving. The owner was extremely rude, and didn’t actually have our trailer, though the people we spoke to on the phone over the days leading up to our pick up insisted it would be at this location. We ended up having to drive 1.5 hours to Sacramento, then 1.5 hours back. The location we ended up going to was fine, the workers there were very friendly. We drove to San Diego through rain and snow, and by the time we got to our destination, our boxes were soaked. Thankfully we weren’t hauling anything that could get seriously damaged by water. Also we bought the “safe trip” package, as well as the insurance, then ran out of gas on the freeway. When we called the emergency road side service number, the phone connection on uhaul’s end was very staticky, and it was hard for us to explain what was happening... but it didn’t matter because uhaul couldn’t help us, even though we paid for the “safe trip”, but uhaul doesn’t cover gas when renting a trailer.

Scott and staff were outstanding. The problem was that the online reservation system sent me to a store that was closed on my reservation date and if it had been open, the location didn’t even do one way rentals. I went from the #1 original store to #2 which didn’t have a truck, who then referred me to #3 The Box Store (Scott). He did not have a truck but made arrangements to secure one and called me when it was ready. Bottom line, could not pick my reserved truck at 10am. Was allowed to request a preference pick-up that was not feasible. Got a truck at 3pm, super late start for the amount of loading required.

The reps in store need to be honest about what’s being charged instead of telling customers what they want to hear in order to get them to sign. Also.. Don’t lie and say a customer gave you a hard time to have an excuse to refuse service; when in all actuality you gave the customer false information and did not want to be held responsible. Two different situations with two different stores. I will not ever recommend a Friend to any uhaul location. I’d tell them they’re better off investing in a truck and a trailer just to avoid being scammed and lied on!

The reservation system for 24/7 pick up was awful. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. U-Haul changed my location for pick up but didn’t change it to 24/7 pick up. Had to call and wait on hold forever with little to no help. Then when it finally was changed to 24/7 pick up it took forever to get approval to get the key. Had to call again to see what was taking so long. I had a 6:30 am pick up time and didn’t end up leaving until 8:05 am with the truck. Honestly, probably won’t ever use U-Haul again and will tell people I know about my terrible experience.

Make sure the truck has a FULL TANK OF GAS ready for the next renter. It's inconvenient to fill the tank more than what was originally provided and not get compensated for the overage.

After confirming with this store and the uhaul reservation agent that I could keep the trailer an additional six days, it was still in their system for two days only. It turned out not to be a problem returning it but that didn't prevent my stress level from going up yet again. Can Uhual make sure all reservations come up the same at all locations? That would be super helpful.
