I won’t request or use U-Haul if an alternative option is available . I tried to schedule my truck 4 times with a customer service rep and the order was wrong all 4 times when I got the email confirmation. I had to call back over and over and try again. It was nothing but manipulative business practices to cost me more money and they couldn’t even get the truck size right! I wanted and ordered 15 feet and I got 10, I needed to drop it off in Plymouth and pick up in Falmouth and the location and plan that the service people put in tried to extend my mileage, having me pick up 30 miles from where I needed to be only to have me drop off back where I started , which was 70 miles from my original destination. It was a manipulative effort to cost me extra money. And force me to drive more miles than necessary. There were no local offices to communicate with anyone who could schedule or accommodate my pick up, help when the app wasn’t working, help B when the uploads took an hour ! Also, I wasn’t told I would be downloading an app last minute in a parking lot with no service and dropping off was just as difficult . I had to upload pictures for an hour in a lot with no wifi or service . My whole day was a challenge because the truck was changed to a smaller size with telling me and that would have cost me two trips of driving instead of one has I not had help from other people. There was zero capable customer service Representatives or local office and I had to call U-Haul so I only got people from another state. They were clueless, in another state about mileage or distance and they didn’t care that the end costs would be unnecessarily high and couldn’t help with anything. The truck was clean and ran as it should but, the price changing, reservation process, and truck size being wrong made the experience horrific and i nearly had to reschedule my whole moving day because of the ineptitude and lack of communication and dependability. .
Leah fCheck in process was horrible. I talked to your rep on the phone and she told me the app wasn't working due to all the traffic on the site. She told me to use browser. While attempting to activate camera (in Chrome) the lady hung up on me. Exact words "good bye". Service was lousy. She sounded like a lazy employee who didn't want to bother with doing her job. Tried again, process went through ... but took too much time, perhaps 15 minutes at least. Additionally, asking for someone to "call" was very degrading - frankly, downright insulting. I'm retired ... 67 years old ... not an 18 year old kid. Very disappointed in all honesty.
robert sMy truck was at the location when I arrived. Front desk personnel directed me to use the digital pick-up. That process took no less than 70 minutes due to my out-of-state Driver's License. As a residential moving company, why the heck is my out-of-state DL an issue? Once we finally received the keys, the truck had <1/4 tank of fuel and was missing the furniture pads and dolly. Now you have charged me ~$27 extra for things that did not exist. I will share this supremely negative customer experience with as many people as I can in the hopes that a moving truck competitor rises up and creates a less-monopolized environment.
Chris NThe facility personnel offered limited support simply directing us to use our phone; this added stress as a first time user. Phone App was significant and as a first time user added time to getting the unit out the door & safely returned. The remote review was also cumbersome and the added back & forth could have been quickly resolved had a conversation been occurring.
