The workers were friendly. The equipment was in good working order. The only thing that soured my experience was, after filling up the tank with gas to the level I had received it, I was still charged for TWO gallons of gas. I had a picture from prior to using the equipment, too, which I used to determine whether it was refueled properly. The gas gauges being old, and using a "pointer" to identify the gas level seems purposeful, as if the plan is to always leave the gas level "just above" half so as to make it easier to charge people to "refill". I suspect that a class action lawsuit may be in U-Haul's future if this isn't fixed. There is absolutely NO reason for the truck's to not be completely topped off prior to renting. I plan on looking into this further; while it may have only been "a little extra" cost, doing this to the thousands of people who use their equipment adds up. This must be a scam tactic.JESSIE S.

When I came to pick up the truck there were two customers in the lobby looking for an employee. The employee finally came in to assist after about 5 minutes and was playing loud music on his cell phone. The truck's radio did not work properly. I kept the truck longer than expected. I received a phone call that I missed and when I called back to let them know that I was still moving things, no one answered. I received a call back and the person on the phone kept asking when I would bring the truck back, I explained that I was moving my things into storage at the moment and he proceeded to tell me over and over that family's would need the truck in the morning. I never planned on keeping the truck longer than needed but things happen. I had to explain to the man on the phone that I was moving the items into storage and asked if o could bring it after hours. He said I would have to use the mobile app to return after hours and I said ok. He then proceeded to ask me what time I would be bringing the truck back and again I had to explain that I was moving things into the storage unit at the time and him badgering me was holding up progress. I was so frustrated with the interrogation. I felt like he thought I was going to steal the truck but my car was still at the location, so why would I leave my car and take the truck? When I returned the truck, I attempted to use the mobile return feature but after following the instructions it would not pick up my location. There was a lot more minor damage to the van than was documented in the pictures. We spent a lot of time documenting the actual damage of the car and taking new pictures. There was also no indication on the van or in the contract what fuel type to use. The vehicle manual said to use diesel fuel but when I tried to confirm that with a U-Haul associate I wasn't able to speak to anyone over the phone. We ended up not refueling to be sure we didn't fill up with the incorrect fuel. Once we dropped it off the Uhaul associate told us every vehicle requires regular fuel. I know the fuel type is marked on the trucks but this was not true for the vans and we ended up paying for a fuel surcharge because we couldn't access the correct fuel information before returning the van.Cameron R.

Was super disappointed to get a call less than 24 hours before pick up to be told the Pittsboro location I reserved the truck at days earlier did not have the truck for me. I had to get a ride to the Durham location 25 min away and add unnecessary time and mileage to my trip just to collect my rental.JENNIFERREED W.
Van interior had not been cleaned but a staff member cleaned it promptly and willingly, which I appreciated. Only complaint: I was charged a $20 after-hours return fee even though I completed all instructions texted to me for after-hours return. Next time I will use a company that charges $10 more up front but no return fee.KENNETH J.

Being a large center is good and you had a lot of selection. Your customer service on the other hand was very poor. The person helping me, while knowledgeable, was managing two phone lines, two cash registers and training a new guy on a third. The line was long and getting longer. In addition to renting a trailer I rented a storage space as well that was reserved ahead of time. He didn't have time to find the reservation so he made a new one, but with the wrong size. I had to wait in the long line again to get it fixed. Nice guy, but way overworked and that caused lots of confusion as he spread his attention over too many places.Kurt W.
