The operators were friendly and helpful. The location was about 15 miles out of the way for me, but it was the only option near my home. Rental rates were lower in a nearby city, but that would have been even farther away. If rates for a return rental are .69 per mile in Asheville, why are they not .69, rather than .99 in a rural store?

I cannot rate the owners of this location with any sort of negative review because they had nothing to do with what the U-Haul reservation folks did; however I can rate the U-Haul website and reservation system at a very low POOR. I scheduled my pick-up at a location closer to my home for 4:30 pm. When I showed up 15 minutes early to pick up the trailer, the original location folks knew nothing of my reservation until they tracked it down on line. The reservation had been moved to another location and at an additional 20 minute drive away. They called the location and were told that normally they do not accept rental pick-ups past 4:30pm. Fortunately they understood my situation and honored my late pickup. The problem that exists here is that the U-Haul reservation folks never contacted me via e-mail or any other method about the change. Had I waited until my scheduled pick-up time, I would have been unable to reach the changed location in time to pick up the trailer. This is highly unsatisfactory!

Received email the night before rental and when called to confirm, they were closed. Called next morning to confirm and was told they did not have tow dolly because U-Haul had taken all they had. They would not do anything to help. Had to get tow dolly at another location. Drove my cars to another to drop off car to be towed. Drove back to other location wife my wife to get truck. Loaded truck that evening and drove to other U-Haul location to get tow dolly attached and vehicle. They talked me in to a trailer at the same price. The entire process was very inconvenient. Do not plan on using U-Haul again.

My pick up location was very friendly and helpful. As was my intial requested pick up location. However, I was never told that my location had been moved over an hour away and when I called to inquire if there was another location not on backroads and was met with a woman who was not only not helpful but rude.

I was told I could turn in right down the street after unloading. When I tried they said no and I had to drive 30 min. too turn it. At that time I was over miles limit and had to pay. Not right! Everything else was great.

I returned to a hardware store that doubles as a U-Haul site. The gentleman who helped detach the trailer was perfect mountain North Carolinian: Very pleasant, kind and helpful. The lady at the desk was the same. I also enjoyed the lazy dog that accepted a scratch on the ears!

The on-line process was awful. I had a reservation in Brevard and then was advised the evening before the pick-up that the truck was in a different city. I had to scramble to find an alternative, which I did, but had to get a larger truck than I desired.

While my experience at the rental location was great, the corporate performance from U-haul was very poor at best. The new self pick-up feature was terrible. There was very little information given on how such a new feature would work when I made my reservation and zero support available on moving day. When moving day arrived, I tried to check in and the portal said my reservation had expired. Apparently, if you are late, the reservation automatically cancels. Okay, I get it. . . people make a reservation and don't show up. If U-haul is drawing that hard line, they need to have someone available on the other end to pick up if someone still actually needs a truck! At minimum, change the agreement to be more lenient with check-in times as moving is inherently hectic and some delays are almost unavoidable. Again, I was running late (like 1 hour) and I tried calling the 800 U-haul number and was on hold for an eternity. Nobody ever picked up, so I ended up calling another rental location in my area. They ended up being awesome and saved the day! The truck, however, was very old and needed to be retired. It was misfiring and the brakes pulled very badly to the right when braking. Again, no fault of the rental location. I've used U-haul for all of my moving needs in the past, so If you ever need to use U-haul, I would strongly suggest renting a U-haul the old-fashioned way. Technology is great, but only if it works!

Called prior day and reserved truck with all information. Upon arrival took 45 minutes to finish contract,seemed to be very unorganized and not equipped to handle business.
