I don't know what it is, but it seems like I can never have a smooth experience with U-Haul. The last time I rented a truck, it literally caught on fire when I was driving it down the highway with all of my belongings in it. The time before that, they didn't have the right size truck I had confirmed over and over again for a given location. And this most recent time I was charged over $10,000, when I returned the truck undamaged and had only rented for 2 hours. The mistake came from a manual error in entering the mileage. I'm still waiting for the correction to be reflected on my credit card and honestly am surprised I wasn't offered a full refund for all of the trouble. Not only did I wake up to a $10,000+ bill, but then when attempting to call, I was placed on hold for over 20 minutes, with ultimately no answer. I had to drive to the location, which is out of my way, in order to get help correcting this mistake that was made by them. I was calm and polite the entire time, despite the guy telling me "I wasn't in any hurry." No I wasn't in a hurry, but I was making a trip to this location that I shouldn't have had to make in the first place. I don't know why I keep renting here.

I had a terrible experience at another UHaul place, but the supervisor at the Clairmont location, did everything he could to turn that experience around and it was a success. I was finally able to focus on what I needed to do without the added stress of others not doing their job correctly. I’m very happy with the Clairmont location, their equipment and service.

My reservation was for 9:30. I didn't get out with the proper equipment until like 10:15. They were slow and distracted (without many other customers) and then the fuel and mileage on the truck I was given didn't match the contract. I had to go back to the slow ass counter and first thing he says is "oh did you drive somewhere?" as if it was my fault. No, I told him, not only did I not drive anywhere, but I already called the local number to tell them of the discrepancy so go talk to your person in the back because they said you'd fix it. Counter guy says well it might be too late. I said too late my ass you'll find a way to fix it. Turns out they mixed up the contracts and vehicles and pulled the "right" vehicle around for me. Then he tried to trick me on furniture pad rentals. I had reserved 2 sets, but when he pulled around the "right" truck he only pulled one set from the old truck over to the new truck, saying "there's already a set on there so you only need one more". Well yeah there was, because it was the extra/ emergency furniture pad / dolly rental that costs more. I never requested a dolly. And by the way, not ONCE did one of those guys say sorry for their mistakes that ate up my rental time. Then when I returned the truck, it took FOREVER to get a paper receipt because they were just hoping I'd just walk away and let them check in the truck. NO WAY would I trust them to do that.

Overall, a good experience However, I think it is time or past time to retire this truck One other point: it is always good for the U-Haul person to go over the operation of any truck before turning it over to someone renting it

I have to say, having rented on three occasions in the past 6 months, that I am so impressed by U-Haul's customer service and the excellent way the company has leveraged technology to make the rental experience work efficiently. I received the WORST possible customer experience I have ever received from Akeem. He called me to ask when I would be returning the truck and I tried to explain to him that I had reserved it for four hours and that I would have it back within the four hour window. He then told me that it would be an extra day charge since there was some other information that was put into their system. He then called me rude and ended the call by hanging up on me. I then took the truck back inside the four hour window that I rented it in and was charged an extra day. I explained the situation to him and was told there was nothing he could do because it was the “system’?” I asked why they were not honoring the reservation and again it was blamed on the system. I asked to speak to a manager and was told that none was available even though I waited to have my vehicle return completed while he spoke to some one he kept calling boss. I felt like he thought his rudeness and sarcastic attitude was an acceptable form of customer service. I disputed the charge with the reservation line because apparently they are more empowered to do their job than Akeem is and was told it would be 24 to 48 hours before I hear back. I hope I hear back and I hope that Uhaul does not think that the service that Akeem is providing customers is acceptable. I spent over 8 years managing in the vehicle rental industry and if I saw one of my employees treating customers the way Akeem treated me they would have been pulled off the front line immediately! Completely unacceptable.

I MOVED FROM CHICAGO TO ATLANTA WHEN I ARRIVED IT WAS LATE AFTER 1AM AND RAINING HARD...MR. DONALD MCMICHAEL GOT OUT HIS BED CAME TO THE STORE AND HELPED ME & FAMILY WITH THE STORAGE AND UNHOOKING THE AUTO TRANSPORT. I AM LOST FOR WORDS WITH THIS ACT OF GOING ABOVE AND BEYOND FOR THE CUSTOMER. I WANT TO SINCERELY THANK MR. DONALD MCMICHAEL AND HIS STAFF. I AM FOREVER GRATEFUL AND I APPRECIATE THE THOUGHTFULNESS TO TAKE CARE OF THE CUSTOMER. I originally reserved the smallest van for 9am Dec 1 at Avondale Estates, however Avondale did not have the van I was guaranteed. In spite of the fact that I had the email where I confirmed my check in, Avondale GA would not help solve the problem. I had to call around until I located a small van at Clairemont. Unfortunately, when I arrived there, they told me I didn’t have any reservation either. It was printed out in black and white. They told me I could have a 24hr rental of a larger van for $39.95. This was much more than I needed. It wasn’t until I called corporate that they located my $19.95 rental. Consequently, I had to rent from a much greater distance away from my points of pick up, which then cost me nearly double the estimate for mileage, and it was already 1pm before I could begin the move. When Uhaul “guarentees” a rental, it needs to be from the location requested and available at the time needed. If that doesn’t happen, then store personnel need to be prepared to help resolve the issues and provide remuneration when the cost far exceeds the estimate due to Uhaul’s fault rather than anything your customer has done. I am disappointed with the service and don’t trust your promises any longer.

Donald McMichael at Clairmont was great. The issue I have is I had reserved a truck Friday to pick up sunday (reservation # 27465401) Unbeknownst to me when I showed up to pick the truck up there wasn't a truck for me period. no one had called, emailed or anything stating that the 15' truck I reserved was broke. In turn this location called a service number to try to find me a truck and the question came back would I take a 20' truck for the same price as a 15'. I said yes. the Piedmont location said there was a truck at Clairmont Rd. (already 40 minutes wasted) when I got to clairmont Donald had no idea I was coming and told me that he didn't have any trucks available. He said he could call 2 people that hadn't picked up their trucks to see if they were coming. 1 person cancelled, the 20' truck person but he said we got lucky on that and had no idea why they sent me to his store. He was very helpful and did what he could to resolve the issue. From there I did not receive the truck for the 15' price and also I was set back on my trip by an hour and 20 minutes. I was heading to Augusta and by the time I got there what I was going to pick up was gone so I wasted my time and money on something that could have been avoided by a call or email at minimum first thing Sunday morning if not prior to on Saturday. A person at the Piedmont location told me that a 3rd party books reservations and they don't have control over things like. that makes absolutely no sense at all and if is the case the 3rd party company should be fired if communication is not part of their job to the local stores, what's the point in having them? I'm open to suggestions on how UHaul should compensate me for a waste of time and money? thanks and look forward to hearing back a solution Joseph Mullican 404-812-4001

They went out of there way to get the equipment and vehicle that i needed for a one way trip, last minute I end up not needing the vehicle or equipment. They handled it amazingly, and were cool about it. Service and staff was GREAT! Respect them and communicate clearly, and I guarantee they'll take care of you!
