Have someone else to jump in and help w customers on Saturdays
Check in was painful. Between the guy in front of me and myself, it took probably 30 minutes for it. Only one employee at the counter while a line formed behind me; 4 people deep. I felt badly for them. The guy that checked me in knew what he was doing but seemed uncoordinated and inefficient at his tasks. It didn't help that the utility dolly ID numbers weren't in the computer or whatever else he had to do to get mine ready. Probably 5 or 10 minutes to do that. The only reason I would come back is convenience. I've rented from the Uhaul in Saukville, WI a few times and they are very efficient and act with a sense of urgency. Checkin has never lasted more than a few minutes.
Make sure you are giving reserved equipment to the correct customer!
I rented a 5x8 enclosed trailer and was in and out in 10 minutes. The gentleman that did the paper work was fast, friendly, and professional. The young man that hooked up the trailer was the same. Very good place to rent a truck or trailer from my experience.
I had a pick up time scheduled for 9:30am, however, waiting in the line and checking out took 25 minutes. When you rent something for 6 hours, you don't want to be jipped out of 1/2 hour... More customers, more registers...
I have been a UHaul customer for over 15 years and here are the top 3 things I was offended by today that will make me seek storage and truck rentals somewhere else. 1) Having to give my cellphone number and home address. 2) Having to take pictures of my driver's license and of the rental vehicle. 3) Having to retrieve the vehicle key from a lockbox on the side of the building.

Requiring me (as a condition of rental) to disclose contact information on a friend/relative not associated with the truck rental just so you have a secondary contact # is just plain old wrong and a terrible (if not illegal) business practice.
I have used this location before and service was fine. This time I went to pick up the trailer and the person hooked me up and then tested the lights, the parking lights didn't work and I was told that I couldn't take the trailer until I repaired the lights on my truck. To save time I returned with my company truck to pick up the trailer. It was a different person that hooked me up this time, he hooked me up and then went to the back of the trailer and told me to use my turn signals and brake lights and said I was good to go. He said he was happy because when he first hooked me up he saw a spark. As I drove home I realized that the running lights still weren't working. When I got home I called the rental location and told them that I suspected that the trailer was actually the problem with a dead short. I was told that I could pick up a different trailer. I picked up a different trailer after I had to run around to find replacement fuses, I went through (3) fuses troubleshooting the problem at $5,75 a piece. It cost me almost all the morning and $16.75. I find it hard to believe that the lights aren't checked in between uses.
Make sure you have a phone that has excellent reception, could not download a photo of my driver's license, took foreverrrrrr! Even using their guest Wifi. Same thing happened outside when I wanted to take photos of the existing damage to the truck for documentation, could not get a good signal to download to their form that they want you to fill out before leaving the parking lot. Very frustrating and disappointing.
My favorite part was the return. The younger male that helped with that was working hard, friendly and anxious to be helpful. I don't know if I'd say the same of the people inside when I picked up the truck that same morning but at least it ended on a good note. There was nothing special or amazing about this location or people. It didn't frustrate me nearly as much as the Waukesha location so I GUESS that's a plus? I'm also contacting customer service because apparently it costs more to rent on Fridays and Saturdays (which is fine) but it certainly isn't crystal clear and they will get you for more and be sneaky about it.

Besides the fact that it took me two hours to get the truck and I had to drive 20 minutes to another location (which added on an additional $30 because you guys charge 99 cent a mile), the main manager at the West Allis location was an a**hole. The guy helping me out was a mechanic, trying to help out the only other guy working the counter (the manager was in his office). The mechanic guy was nice and helpful, and when the manager came out of his office, the mechanic asked him for some help and the manager LITERALLY said "I don't have time for that". I wanted to jump over the counter and slap some sense into him. Customers ALWAYS come first. Because of this, it took an additional 20 minutes for the mechanic to finish the process and finally get me the truck. First recommendation: teach your people values. Even if the manager was really busy, he could have said "Let me just go sort something out really quick and I'll be right back" Second recommendation: If you know you're super busy on the weekends, schedule more people and always have someone on call. Third recommendation: Spend a little money on your computers, programs, and apps. Having your system crash three times per customer= people waiting at least 3 times as long. Also, if you're going to have your employees tell the customers that everything can be done online, please make sure that the customer can do it online. Fourth recommendation: If the customer is paying to rent the truck and also for insurance, at least give him 20 free miles per day. I understand that wear and tear exists, but some of those miles put on where because the nearest location near me did not have the truck I needed. Give people a little buffer zone. Thanks
This wasn't my original reservation location. The first place I went where my reservation was they did not have my truck available and offered no alternatives were offered. I hade to drive all the way to the West Allis location just to make sure I could complete my move.
The desk person was not readily available - I had to wait a few minutes for her to appear.
Terminate the employment of all the grifting thugs you employ here. They assess additional charges to their rental contracts for cleaning fees/refuel charges/late fees or whatever they believe they can assess. Avoid this place and find a rental elsewhere. There is a Budget Rental just one mile south from here and a Ryder facility 1/4 mile north. If you seek self-storage sites, you can find many places with greater security than this place at a fraction of the rental rates these pirates swindle from you. You don't have to worry about thieves breaking in here. The thieves here are employed at the site and come with every rental you get.

The process was so smooth. Everyone at this location was very helpful and answered every question I had. The whole process took about 30 minutes start to finish.
They charged me an extra $20.00 after hours service fee even though I was told I could bring it back before 6:45PM, which I did, and was not told I'd be charged an extra $20.00 just because the office was closed at that time.
Van was clean and easy to drive. Friendly staff and easy drop off. Affordable. Thank you.
