I find it ironic that when I moved into my house 13 years ago, I rented a 26' truck from U-Haul and the roof leaked during a major rain storm and ruined my oak headboard. I filed a claim and was paid for the damage. This time I move out of that house and it rained heavy again, and the truck leaked again! This time it soaked a box I was careful to ensure it didn't sit on the floor in case of the same problem, but much to my dismay, The overhead shelf leaked and soaked a box labeled "surround stereo system". I've yet to unpack it and check to see if it still works, but I'm thinking it probably won't. I set the box in the window of my garage facing the sun hoping it will dry out the contents before I plug it in. Very dissatisfied with this performance to where I think my next move will be with your competitor. I strongly suggest you develop a maintenance program to check for this condition with a power washer.

Equipment was clean but the first truck we picked up had a bent axle or something. The trailer was going down the road diagonally, and the steering wheel was was not straight. We took it right back and were given a different truck that was also clean, but made a loud whining noise until speed of about 55 was reached. Other than that, the facility and staff where we rented the truck were very helpful and friendly. Recommend the location, but U-Haul needs to take better care of the equipment.

The truck was clean, and you can not ask for better or nicer people to work with than the folks at Wayland's Do It Best Hardware. However, the truck did shake pretty good and at times the transmission sounded like it was having a difficult time shifting gears. But it made the trip so I have no complaints.

I have been a U-Haul customer before and I must say, my recent experience was very disappointing. After reserving a 5 x 8 trailer online to be picked up at a different location, I never received a pickup confirmation call. Instead, I had to call U-Haul to find out my preferred location did not and would not have my trailer. I was then forced to hunt down a 5 x 8 trailer that would be available. (Such a hassle!) Once I had reorganized my reservation and arrived to pick up my trailer, the store has a difficult time accessing my reservation. The U-Haul reservation software or website was malfunctioning and my payment could not be processed. In the end, my "quick" pick-up turned into an hour and a half of struggling with the point of sale system. The chasier had to cancel my reservation entirley and start from scratch as a walk-in in order for me to pay! All in all, a totally frustrating experience! What is the point of reserving a trailer beforehand if it is not available or if the software doesn't even work?! And most of all why did I pay almost $400 for such an awful experience??!!???

Only 1 person for paperwork at counter. Did online express check in and still had to wait over a half hour for the person in front of me to get their rental first then mine took less than 5 minutes. What is the point of express check in for this situation? Person for trailer hook up and vehicle check was excellent.

This location we weren't able to find the drop of key box and a friend of mine that works with u-haul at a different location couldn't find it The woman wasn't friendly nor understanding made us feel we were stupid and unwelcome even returned the truck with more then a 1/4 tank and then she stated by yelling across the store .You know you will be charged an extra day RIGHT!! .I had the truck there the night before but since we couldn't find the key drop box I held onto the keys til the next morning ..Didn't want to leave the keys in the truck opened.. But I will still use Uhaul but I will use a different location

My issues are not about the individual business where I picked up and dropped off in this instance, but with U-Haul itself. Your national reservation system is a joke. Further, this is not the first time. I recall moving out of grad school about 18 years ago, reserving a medium size truck and car tow dolly, arriving at the pick-up, to find only little vans and trailers. The person there said, well, you're just moving a bunch of books and some stereo equipment, right? I answered no, I have a full two-bed apartment, couch, bed, sofa, desk, dishes, etc. and an Oldsmobile to tow. He said he'd get me something in about two hours. It took 3. About 10 years ago, I again needed to make a major move, on a tight timetable, again reserved a large truck and a tow dolly, but when I went to pick up, was told the two things were in two different locations- on opposite ends of the city! Finally, on this occasion I was simply moving some home decor into storage, reserved a pick up only to have the location changed to several miles away last minute, and then was not provided with a return location, only a number I had to call when I got there, only to give a location just blocks away, that should have been easily looked up when I made the reservation. Congratulations on 20+ years of screw up after screw up. Please get this right, else why bother having a reservation system in the first place?

Make sure your trailer connection is working (mine wasn't), otherwise you can waste a lot of time fixing it. You cannot rent with it partially working (not a comment on the rental place, just some friendly advice).

My only negative experience in this whole encounter was when I was returning the trailer and I was backing into a spot and one of the employees of the hardware store named Mark whistled and said "We will on unhook it and push it back in manually. You're going to hurt something." I've done been backing the trailer in all weekend and have a lot of experience with trailers. I was going to hurt nothing, so I felt that that was an insult that I could've done without. Other than that everything was wonderful.
