The customer service rep who handled my transaction wasn't very personable and didn't seem to have a lot of knowledge of the procedures to move the transaction forward. When the rep received the help required from another staff member, the transaction was completed fine. Also, the rep did not walk around the truck with me to detail any pre-existing issues with the truck. While we didn't have any incident, it would have been good to know any pre-existing damage on the truck. Further, while it likely was noted in the contract, I wasn't verbally informed of any additional mileage costs if I exceeded mileage allowed in the contract, nor was I told about incurring any additional misc. costs. In regards to the mileage, the allowed mileage may have allowed for the "overall shortest route from point A to point B" but it didn't take into account detours and unexpected added miles traveled. I think there needs to be more flexibility provided with the mileage to allow for unforeseen detours.

First of all we got stuck with a 26 ft. truck instead of a 20 ft. which we ordered. The truck had over 140,000 miles on it and was obviously damaged many times. It is not suitable to transport someone across the country. The front bumper partially came off and we had to use duck tape. Driver door window whistled badly. Rear view mirrors were not set right and could not be adjusted without an allen wrench. Brakes were weak and it was underpowered for the mountains. This truck needs to go out to pasture.

Tow dolly left tail light fell out between Schererville and Champaign. The wiring was old and frayed. It wasted an hour of our time to switch out equipment. Tow dolly was very old. It sounded as if we were dragging metal garbage cans.

The worse experience I have ever had at a U-HAUL. There was 3 employees on site while I was at the facility. The employee that help me was Josh and I am extremely sorry but he was on something words were a little Slurred and he acted very confused. He messed up on my reservation multiple times even though I did it on line with my account. Then once he got it together he gave me the wrong piece of equipment which caused me to have to go back in to redo my contract. The manager was rude told me to get over it and that shit happens. I am sorry but it took 45 mins to get a 6’x12’ trailer. I am usually in and out in 15 mins. The other employee was clueless if the operation. She may have been new. Also it’s not good customer service when the employees look like they hate their job.

Please explain the rates and charges prior to renting. Just because you book online doesn’t mean it’s the same thing you get in store. I was booking a rate of $19.95 for the rental and $0.59/mile. That was nothing close to the rate that I was charged with and found out upon returning the vehicle, of which I requested a call regarding this and never received one. Instead, I received an email stating to email them if I had any questions. Not very good service.

I had a 27 foot truck with no dolly. It would have made the move much easier by loading and unloading. I had to purchase 2 locks at Walmart because there were no more locks at the location near closing time. I had to leave my Family at the storage locker while I ran to the store. I wasn't told about the locks at 9 A.M. otherwise I would have purchased them in advance.

Update the online reservation system. I reserved one type of trailer, but then my reservation came up with something completely different. The guy who helped me at the location was great and fixed it. Everyone is always nice and quick, I just think the systems are a little outdated. I’ve had this issue in the past, it’s not a huge deal, but I’d like to see it fixed.

Reservation was quick and easy. Confirmation reminder send in E-mail. Return was also quick and easy. Aaaaaaand, you can't beat the price.
