I would recommend visiting this location because the ownership (Duane & Steve) was very helpful with my situation. Here is my story ... I am from the Ottawa area and had to move an in-law back from Sudbury, Ontario. I had the truck and I went ahead and rented a 6’ by 12’ trailer from U-Haul from the Russell location. I was talked out of transporting the rented trailer to Sudbury empty and the proprietor of Town & Country Video, Duane actually reserved the 6’ by 12’ trailer in Chelmsford, about 20 minutes outside of the Big Nickel. I was scheduled to pick up the trailer at 7 am Thursday morning, November 23rd and when I arrived the reservation was for a 5’ x 8’ trailer AND NOT the 6’ x 12’ trailer I required and reserved. I actually had an email confirmation from U-Haul stated I had rented a 6’ by 12’ trailer but when I showed up in Chelmsford for pick up it stated otherwise on their computer system and my only option was the 5’ by 8’ trailer. Obviously I was fuming and after a very frustrating conversation with a U-Haul representative on the phone who gave me far too much attitude and basically said it was my fault and that there must have been a computer glitch. The U-Haul rep further stated that what I was emailed was not an actually guarantee it was only a booking reference. What garbage! I have to give tremendous credit to the locations where I picked up the trailer and where I dropped it off. Cheryl in Chelmsford did her very best to help and added that U-Haul was famous for screw-ups. As for Town & Country Video – these guys went above and beyond in an attempt to save the day for U-Haul. Duane and Steve took my telephone call just after 7 am Thursday and I will admit I am not the most pleasant thing you want to start your morning with IF YOU DISRESPECT ME! U-HAUL with this REVIEW YOU get a FAILING GRADE and from my post on facebook where I called U-Haul idiots, the 75 comments and 56 shares echoes my sentiments exactly. The location was great and friendly. However within the first 3 minutes of our move my 70 year old dad slipped and fell on the ramp due to a small chunk of ice that fell from the roof and somehow got imbedded in the ramp grooves. It was icy and slippery all day. We tried putting salt and taking a wood block to pound the ice. I slipped myself in the later evening and as this damn ramp was slippery all day. It was not a fun move. Luckily we didnt hit our heads but my dad is bruised. We will definitely be looking at safer alternatives should we require another move

We ran into some trouble with our move, we were moving from Sudbury to Ottawa on the Friday of the long weekend and highway 17 was closed due to a fatality for about 8 hours so we lost a whole day. When I called and explained our situation we were allowed to bring the truck back a day later at no extra charge. We really appreciated the excellent service it was a very stressfully time for us. I would definitely us the service again and recommend it to everyone. Thanks again you really made our move more enjoyable.

Awful experience.... kept pickup truck for 4 days and they charged me $260 for local in town with only 80kms .... I even made sure there was gas and there was no damage... these were simply the basic charges????? Ridiculous.... I stormed out never authorizing my credit card to be billed but they charged it anyhow... never again will I use the Russell location or uhaul for that matter if this goes unrectified.... I'm very upset and intend on using media to express my dismay and tell my story.... very upsetting!!!

While the van was clean, it smelled like farm animals. An air freshener would have helped.

The agents were excellent. However, the software used was a bit buggy. I wished to pay using a combination of cash and debit card, and that seemed to cause issues. We had to restart three times as the program would not save changes. Also, due to availability, I had gotten a free upgrade to a larger truck, but was being charged at the higher price. I informed the agent, who then confirmed that it was a free upgrade, and adjusted the cost.
