The vehicle had four extra miles than was listed in the contract and had 3/4 a tank of gas instead of the contract stating full. Is this a scam? Four miles @ 69 cents a mile would have cost me 2.80$. Multiply that daily weekly monthly and yearly. And it adds up. Either that or the staff isn’t using due diligence and properly checking vehicles. They made it right. But how many people and how many vehicles is this happening to??? I’ll be going to the competition henceforth.

I had more of a problem with your customer service by phone. I called to the drop off location because when I checked from my receipt online, it showed the U-Haul storage location where we were sitting. We called, waited about 7 minutes for a live person, then was transferred to traffic because he couldn't help. We decided to check for another location and found one further north. We proceeded to there still on hold for traffic. We were pulling into the location when traffic came on the line to give the address we were at. That was over 19 minutes on hold for a destination. I would say your customer service needs more personnel to cover the apparent volume of calls you are generating.

I ordered a 17 ft truck for an 8:30 pick up, self service. When I went to that location at 8:20, I was hoping for an easy and fast process as I had about 8 people meeting me at my house to start loading the truck at 8:45 and the forecast was calling for monsoon-like storms starting between 11am and 12pm and we were aiming to be done by then. Unfortunately, as I began my self check in to pick up my truck, I was alerted that equipment had not been assigned to me, even though I'd gotten a confirmation email. I called the phone number provided and that individual was on vacation until Nov 5th. I called a number he provided in his voicemail and that individual did answer but was unable to help me and kept having to call me back after calling someone else to get information for me. Eventually, he was able to get me into the lockbox at the site and when I opened it, there was no key inside and all of the trucks at the site were locked. I was then told to drive across town to another location to pick up a different truck. At that location I waited another 15 minutes and eventually was given a truck to use. By the time I left uhaul, it was 9:10, 50 minutes later than I'd arrived to get my truck. Because of this, I had people who had volunteered to help me waiting outside of my house in the rain for almost an hour for me and my move was pushed back an hour later, making more of it occur in heavier rain and making me late for work.

They told me that they did not have a 26' van available, and would maybe have a 20' van available for Oct. 7th. I reserved the 20' van, and they said I would get a call about my reservation a couple of days before. When I got the call, I was told that a 20' van was in New Windsor. I told them I would accept anything between Albany and Poughkeepsie. Than they said I could have a 26' van at this location. They had the 26' van there all this time. I made the reservation several days in advance. When ever I talk to anyone about this location, I find that they do not like to rent to people who drop off at other locations. I am extremely displeased with the staff there!
