Changed my order from self check in on March 23---from 8am to 730 am---store was suppose to open at 7---called the emergency number-Justine the manager came out from another door--VERY fortunate that she was able to assist me---however, my movers,who were hired by the hour were kept waiting-I appreciate Justines help--I will use Uhaul again,as I have in the past--and I will never use self check in again---I understand the very dire situation our country is in--and I totally appreciate Justine for getting me through the process-

Rented cargo trailer for 2 days then returned after hours, within reservation time on second day. Were told to where to leave trailer. We were not told to do online check in and then charged additional $20. Not happy at all.


My mileage was calculated incorrectly and I was overcharged for my usage. I was 17 miles over and was charged for 60. Also, the truck had a clunking noise when turning to the left and the steering was slow to respond. The person who checked me in didn’t seem to care when I told him about it. Just not a great experience overall.

Unit (van) I rented was very clean BUT..... the seats could have used a deep cleaning as they were covered in WHITE dog hair.. on black seats.. which wound up on my black pants! Was not happy with that!

The online/phone check in system was horrible. It took nearly 30 minutes.


Just make sure the trucks/vans have a proper wheel alignment and the brakes are also checked.

Do not mislead customers about your requirement for addition "contact" information necessary for U-haul vehicle pickup. Especially, for early morning or late night after hours pickup! This could result in an enormous inconvenience for your customer.

Floored that JAMES NOBLE Area Field Manager said He would NOT call me a cab upon my return of the rental. And Mr Noble also said if I gave him a hard time he would throw me out. Shocked after waiting 45 minutes while James Noble chatted up with a non buying customer, first said I'm all set. As a regular paying customer I always request a hard copy receipt and a cab ride. Mr Noble clearly hates his job. Shame on Mr Noble who ruined a usually very pleasant rental experience.

I reserved a 20' truck online not realizing that it was an "in town" unit. Upon picking the truck up I was informed of this and that the reservation could not be changed to a one-way reservation because as the manager so rudely said. "it's my truck." I would like to know how it was required for a truck with an Arizona registration is to be used specifically for "in-town" and returned to only the Pittsfield, MA U-Haul location. I still do not know why I could not have dropped the vehicle off in Great Barrington, MA. I mean isn't that how U-Haul works? I may be wrong but I feel like this was just a play for more mileage and more money. I also reserved a utility dolly which was not loaded onto the truck. While I will fully admit, I did not complete my due diligence and just assumed it was loaded, it was not until I reached my destination that I realized it was not actually there. The charge was removed, but the manager also shrugged it off like it was not big deal. Because I did not have use of the dolly all of my appliances were at greater risk during the move. The truck itself was dirty, dusty, and smelled like a combination of cigarette smoke, sulfurous flatulence, and Port-o-Potty deodorizer. I literally had to drive 86 miles with open windows on a 24 F degree day. The ramp was covered in mud and the storage compartment was covered in a thick layer of dust. Overall I am not even close to satisfied with this experience and I highly doubt I will return to this location or possibly ever use U Haul again. To be honest, I am not even sure why I am taking the time to write this review. I highly doubt there will be any offer of recompense, but I figured I will as you say, "help the next family." The cruise control didn’t seem to be working. I had a hard time navigating the mobile app on the return of the truck. Instructions should be specific on the steps at how to return the truck, when to take pictures, not videos. The rep at the Pittsfield, MA location was helpful the next morning.

Have steering alignment checked on box truck. Truck wandered all over the road when turning, first sign of miss-alignment. Ease up on the interior car cleaner to cover up someones smoking. It gave me a headache the entire time I was in the van. Alittle can go a long ways... Thanks

Better instructions on the mobile truck share. Slow internet speeds in that location did not help in providing me the instructions for the return. It was on multiple screens.

Staffs are immature. Wasting my time every time I go there. They made me miss my appointments on two consecutive days. The first time I went there to pick up trailer and pickup truck, equipments were ready but those guys wasted my 25 minutes of time in the office filling forms. I asked the guy said that’s the rules. The second time, a lady told me I can do everything and filling all the forms online without wasting time in their office, which I did the online arrangement and everything but when I got there to pick up my trailer with the truck, I was still asked to fill forms again and 10 minutes of time wasted. I missed my second time salvage inspection in Westfield Massachusetts again and wasted over $200. U-Haul is not a place to rent car within twinkle of an eye. Those guys there can miss up your time if you want to rent equipments them. Some of them don’t know how to talk to customers too. If a friend ask me about U haul in 434-436 W Housantonic St. Pittsfield, I will say him/her to go in their risk. Check everything before leaving with the equipments because of the trailers are rusted and hard to operate especially with trailer tires stripes. I took me an hour just to strips a car on the trailer.

When I arrived at the location nobody was in the storefront. A lady came in and I asked for assistance with my reserved van. She told me rudely and quickly "Give me a minute" and then walked out of the store. Another lady came in and helped us and was very pleasant. The van was clean inside and out with the exception of a constant faint smell of vomit. When we return to the van we told the guy checking it in and he zaid " now I have to deep clean it and youre the last one with it and somebody has to be charged." He didnt charge us and it wasnt from us anyway.

Jake did a wonderful job helping me. When I made the reservation through the call center they told me things that were not true and I was about to walk away. Jake stepped up to the plate to make sure I had an excellent experience. I will never deal with the call center again, instead I deal directly with Jake. If Jake ever leaves, I will never use U-Haul ever again.
