Saurabh SNo one was there no parking lot dangerous intersection. Man at the other location down the street at originally booked (over a month out) uhaul location that was then changed was incredibly unhelpful and rude. Probably was more concerned about getting back to his tv show in the break room than doing his job.
Julia WI have never seen the University U-Haul location staffed to an appropriate level. Granted, I have only been there around May 30th to June 2nd each year, which I imagine is one of their busiest times. However, they should really implement surge staffing for the predictable surge in moving van rental needs around the beginning/end of each month and student move-in in the fall (student move-out is less of a surge because it tends to be more spread out over the month of May). Things I have seen consistently at U-Haul University City: *Staff serving multiple customers at once with multiple terminals (honestly good problem-solving by staff, but everyone would be happier and less burnt out if there were 2 workers to help customers). *Staff serving customers (including at multiple terminals) while taking calls from additional customers (again, I don't fault the staff; they're working really hard to give all customers the best experience possible from the impossible situation U-Haul has put them in). *Over-reliance by staff on self-service tools for customers, rather than a more full-service experience, where staff could walk out to the rental with the customer or assist with vehicle return. *Store completely empty of staff while multiple customers wait in line (this one's crazy to me, although again I do not fault the staff who are trying their best; in an emergency, there would not be enough staff to effectively manage, let alone if one of the staff needs to use the restroom or has a medical emergency themselves). U-Haul Corporate, please listen: there should be at least 2 staff at every location, at the very least at predictable surge times of the month/year, and not doing this increases costs by worsening customer experience, Increasing liability risks, and worsening quality of work performed (if an employee is staffing 2 terminals at a time all day while working the phone and providing the best customer service they can, how likely is it that they'll perform their inspections to the minimum standard and catch damage done to a rental vehicle by a prior customer?). U-Haul is not significantly cheaper than competitors (although U-Haul would like you to think they are with their low-ball advertised rates that do not include all the fees that you are essentially required to pay). I would not recommend U-Haul's services, and I will recommend to my friends and family that they instead seek rentals at Enterprise or another competitor. I wonder how many customers U-Haul will need to lose (or, God forbid, how many safety incidents need to happen) before it takes the hint that it needs to stop cutting corners. For cautionary tales, see Boeing. For inspiration, see Alcoa or Toyota.
Daniel KI'm very thankful that this location had a truck available. Only set back was that the reservation was for 830am and the representative didn't arrive until almost 930am. It was only a setback due to moving out of state. No issues otherwise.
