I've been using this U-Haul for as long as I've been in Oakland, so we are talking a couple of decades. You guys keep getting better an better. The trucks are spotless and in tip-top condition. It was a turn-off to have to use my cell-phone to complete the reservation process even though I was standing in front of the service counter, but the desk attendant did help me when I was almost done but got stuck. With all the social instability swirling around outside the very doors, the gritty professionalism of the staff was not lost on me. Thanks again.

The process to check out a vehicle was frustrating. Not the store's fault. It took me a 1/2 an hr to check out a van in which I already had a reservation with. Btw filling out the application, taking pics of myself and my cdl, checking the car, taking more pics of the odometer, the system timing out on my multiple times, having a rep check a reference, getting the wrong key to the wrong vehicle. I remember renting a uhaul truck about 9 yrs ago, and I don't remember this process ever having to be this difficult. The least your company could have done to provide some relief with this process was to forgive the $12 it cost to refill the gas, charge a lower mileage rate or lower the daily rate. But this process took way too much longer than what I would have anticipated.

Clerk insisted that i use the check out thru the website on my phone - When i originally made my reservation - I checked off the non app check out. When i finally used the checkout - i could not find my truck - as i walked over the entite lot ( this is a large parking area ) I was told that someone already checked out the truck because i was too slow in finding it - The trucks were parked in no specific order and i had to walk to each truck to try and find it.

At the time of my visit . The company has implemented a new check in tactic. Which was a long line the customer service lady could've informed me and others if you did a reservation on line to follow these new procedures. We had to do things with our phones: take picture of self and license front and back and upload. The lady was rude with me. I would not be back take my business elsewhere where it's not that complicated and definitely not in the hood.

ITS BEEN YEARS SINCE I RENTED A U HAUL TRUCK, THINGS HAVE REALLY CHANGED EVERYTHING IS DONE THROUGH THE COMPUTER, I SNAPPED MY PICTURE SO MANY TIMES I WAS SCARED TO SEE MY FACE ON A MOST WANTED POSTER. THE PROCESS IS, FRUSTRATING, ONLY BECAUSE I AM OLD AND THIS NEW WAY OF DOING THINGS FRUSTRATES ME. WHAT CAN YOU DO, "TECHNOLOGY" YOU JUST HAVE TO LEARN HOW TO USE IT. THE CLERK WAS VERY HELPFUL, I THINK HE KNEW I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT THE HELL I WAS DOING. HE MADE IT MUCH BETTER SHOWING ME HOW THINGS WORK AND THE PROCESS. I WOULD USE THEM AGAIN FOR SURE.

Reserve online if you can. I was in and out in 5 minutes when I picked up. When I checked back in the young man who checked in the van found I had left my phone and a blanket. Return check in took 2 minutes. Excellent experience again!

The woman who helped me was great and has a strong knowledge of what she's doing, so she & the rest of the staff is exempt from my ratings as it was the store policies and UHaul's overall pricing that is what's being reviewed. Now having all your customers go online instead of reserving att the desk with staff or straight to an app at the very least was what made the whole process crash and burn period. I was there trying to navigate through it for 30 minutes never getting it to work and ended up needng the woman's assistance. I take it the fool thinking smart phones could replace workers to save a buck wasn't really taking all things into consideration when putting this store policy into play, but it sucks & does not work. Now let's talk about false pricing with the $19.95/day rate advertised, as the true cost came out to be $70/day at least because you also charge for mileage which is complete bs given the so called "flat rate" advertised as well as insurance. I will never rent a UHaul ever again on principle given my experience.

The ACTUAL CORRECT pick up location in Oakland was great. However, I was emailed a confirmation with an INCORRECT pick up location of alameda. Wasted an hour of my day and gas! Very frustrating
