Stop letting your employees smoke in the vehicles and then blame the smell on a previous customer. I had a 5-day rental and had to turn it back in less than 24 hours later due to the strength of the cigarette smell. When I picked up the vehicle, I immediately smelled it, went back inside and told the desk. One employee came with me to confirm, said it was the last customer, and then went and got me two air fresheners. I went home and parked the van for the night, after I loaded it with a bunch of donated items. The next morning, the smell was overpowering. We decided we would rather use our own minivan and put 2,000 miles on it than stay in this vehicle. My wife and I returned the van, and it was at this time that we saw one of the employees cleaning out another recently returned van, all while smoking a cigarette inside the vehicle. The best part of this whole thing was they actually charged me for one day of my rental. Are you kidding me?!?! I put 20 miles on the van and returned it. Oh yeah, let’s not forget the $40+ in gas I put in the vehicle the day before to fill it up for my trip. In the end, the store owner allowed the 1-day charge to go away and accepted a full gas tank paid by me as payment enough. We will never use this U-Haul location again.

The trailer leaked. We were traveling in rain all day. About 5 boxes got totally wet....Contents ok, but boxes ruined. Some of them were original packaging boxes from the 50s that enhanced the content' s value.. Very disappointed. Planning to complain.

I had my own hand truck and put it in the back. I did not latch the back properly and the back slid up and my hand truck fell out somewhere along the route. I wish they would have told me the back door will slide up in transit. I could have kept my hand truck. My fault just wish I knew.

Staff was courteous and helpful. The only problem I had was the hand cart has small thin wheels that sink easily into any soil and the cart itself is pretty heavy. All for durability I'm sure but not easy to use.

Although my reservation was cancelled despite my intentional online check in confirmation, I reached the checkout counter and encountered Bret & Aimee. Aimee seemed to be the clear problem solver. She found an overlap with their bookings & was able to find me the truck I promised, which had been reserved the day before. I was on the phone with reservations when this happened. As soon as they learned she had solved my issue and was about to release my reserved vehicle, THEY CALLED THE BRANCH TO PREVENT THAT AVAILABLE INVENTORY FROM BEING RELEASED, INSISTING I HAD TO WAIT 3 MORE HOURS!!! Plus they admonished Aimee for acting quickly & creatively to remedy my unwarranted issue. I'm unable to phathom why it meant so much to this reservations agent to undermine my obvious planning coordination, plus my limited time to waste. How can they call themselves customer service as they worked tirelessly to thwart the release of my reserved vehicle? With corporate reservations working against me, I'll never use Uhaul again!

I had a 2:30 appointment and did not leave the store center until 3:55! When I arrived there was one person in front of me. By the time the employees got the trailer hooked up to my truck (without explaining anything about the trailer to me) I was standing at the back of the line AGAIN with 4 people in front of me. Not only was the “customer service” terrible, but the employees were calling another patron a dumbass...IN FRONT OF OTHER PATRONS! I think the 2 employees were related because both last names were Hubbard. I don’t remember their first name, but the younger one was working the counter. He didn’t explain anything about the charges or contracts and was mildly confrontational and short with the patrons. I most definitely will NEVER be returning to this U-Haul center for any reason. I’d rather drive to Norfolk to get a trailer if this is going to be the experience at this center. My reservation time was from 2:30-8:30 and never left the place until 4:00. Completely unsatisfactory.
