The truck I rented for one way (2500 miles) was low on oil. Had to add oil during our trip. One of the exhaust clamps was out of place causing extreme exhaust leak which affected the mpg in big way. Not to mention the unbearable noise it made during acceleration. I complained at the returning uhaul location and mentioned about the oil purchased as well but was told to call the location where I picked the truck from. I don't understand how the truck was not checked fully before they rent it out. Paid over $3k for the truck and $800+ in fuel. Extremely disappointed.

I carefully calculated my mileage and agreed with the estimated charges of about $41. When I swiped my card I thought that I was being charged the $41 because that's what the employee said the estimate was, When I checked my account later I saw that I was charged $75 then refunded $34. This is an inconvenience to me right now because that $34 won't make it back into my account for several days. I'm living on a fixed income and because of recent unexpected expenses now have less than $5 to live on until June 3rd. If I had been informed that I'd be charged $75, I would have explained that my calculations were very accurate and would have agreed to a $50 charge., but not $75. That overcharging policy assumes everybody can afford to have extra money tied up for up to 5 days. In my case, I'll be living on Ramen noodles and peanut butter until Friday, (3 days) thanks to that policy. That's my only complaint, that I wasn't informed verbally about the $75 charge when I was told to swipe my card. It's not an unsubstantial complaint and I'm glad you have enough sense to have this comment box and not just a bunch of questions designed to tell you what you want to hear. The boxes I checked are all true, but don't show any hint of a problem. If you hadn't had this box I would have deleted this survey without checking any boxes. I hope you also have enough sense to change the policy to make sure the customer is verbally informed that they will be overcharged, (and the amount), before they swipe their card. I'll probably be renting a Uhaul again, and will be waiting to hear that I'm being overcharged, instead of just being told the estimated total when I'm swiping my card.

This was a horrific experience. I was lucky to get away with an imminent accident, because of the messed up transmission on the truck, and also couldn't keep the truck in a straight line at 30 mph. The truck wasn't road-safe let alone freeway-safe.That truck, and perhaps many others like it in your fleet, should not be on the road. U-Haul has a responsibility to rent safe equipment to its customers and not to put their lives at risk. I urge you to take your vehicles and equipment's maintenance seriously, and not focus so much on selling insurance coverage to on vehicles that shouldn't be on the road. Please take this matter seriously and prevent rentals of unsafe vehicles. Thank you Andre Khachikian
