I rented a trailer and ask for help hooking it up to my truck. The U-haul guy agreed and we went outside to do so. I helped him lift the trailer up and attach it to the hitch. We put the chains on together and tightened the trailer hitch knob. After that the guy walked away. While on the road I was stopped in every state for my trailer lights not working. I took highway I-80 all the way to the west coast 4500 miles round trip with illegal, defective equipment. When I notified the guy the trailer lights were not working he said it was my truck, which was a 2018 Ford F-250 that was rented from enterprise. Even if this Ford truck was not compatible if the guy would have told me I would have got a different rental truck. Instead I was sent away to travel with lights that were not working.After dialing 1800-U-Haul and telling them about my experience I was contacted by a guy who is the area manager for U-Haul. This is his message "Hello Mr. Jones, my name is Shariff Clark, Area Field Manager for Dover. I’m sorry for the inconvenience this has been. I have reviewed your rental contract and have spoke with the dispatched location. I also reviewed the equipment the same day it was dropped off. I didn’t find any issue with the rental equipment, dealer owner did informed me that he did reduce your rental. Unfortunately no other refunds will be issued. Please if you have any other issues contact me back at.....shariff_clark@uhaul.com" After getting this message and remembering the 14 traffic tickets I received round trip due to the trailer lights I replied "Shariff, Thank you for contacting me regarding my experience with U-Haul during my rental. I understand you reviewed the equipment and you may have found nothing wrong, however the equipment clearly was not working when I had it. I received ticket after ticket from state police in multiple states who have no reason to lie. U-Haul rented me something that was illegal. After reading the reviews for U-Haul regarding this issue I now understand U-Haul does this often and never issues refunds. Simply google “U-Haul trailer lights not working” and you will see. When the trailer was hooked up the lights should have been checked and if they didn’t work I should have been told. Instead I was sent away to travel 4,000 miles round trip with illegal defective equipment. Honestly it doesn’t matter if you reviewed the equipment and found nothing wrong because I paid my hard earned money to rent the equipment and found it to be not only illegal but a time consuming hassle. After reading you response the one thing I regret is not dropping that defective trailer on the side of the road. I will however post a review on my experience and include your response so people can know what to expect when they use U-Haul. Thank you for nothing and I look forward to never using U-Haul again" Hopefully anybody thinking of renting U-Haul will read the many reviews first.You will get tickets for hauling a trailer without working light

When I reserved this truck I did not request SafeMove ins and I Informed the salesman that I didn't request it and I wanted it removed. I was billed for it anyway.

The only issue I had was that the truck didn't have enough windshield fluid and I was driving in a bad weather were I really needed to clean the windshields. Please, make sure everything is right in the trucks. Thank you! Excellent customer service!
