$19.99 truck gets expensive when you add in $.79 a mile. Uhaul should offer some free miles up to certain amount when renting a truck locally as well as some kind of a discount even $5 if you over fill when putting gas back in. After all you are basically giving them free gas. I went 50 miles and it cost me $80 for a truck and a appliance dolly not including gas. I all I was needing to pick up was a freezer. If you dont have a lot to move and have a trailer hitch, you could rent a trailer for way less. You do not have to pay for mileage or have to put gas back into it.

Two sets of comments: 1 - the staff was great in setting up for me after hours pick up when I called not long before they were to close. Thanks. To them. 2 - However, and a big however, the app-based check out process was terrible. It took us about 45 minutes per vehicle to check out, and that was after we did pre-check on the app, including driver's licenses, photos of drivers, and payment prior to arriving. Here are the basics: - finding the vehicles...they were not near one another, prepped in posiiton, or anything else that showed there was an customer-focus - With-app based check out, wifi should have been provided and reached the vehicles (cell signal was poor becuase they are tucked right up against the highway - We had to walk between the key box and the vehicles-maybe 100 yards, multiple times - there are too many steps: Did you find the vehicle? Are there damaged areas not marked with an "x"? Is it clean? What is the milage? How much gas? Take a photo of the driver's licence front, then back. Take a photo of the driver. Ugh! - We had pre-entered these things and repeating was frustrating - There was no explanation for "damage" - what counts...scapes of the graphic? Scrapes on rails meant to keep the truck from being damaged? And the "x" marks on the vehicle were not visible with the trucks parked close to other trucks. - there was no explanation of what constituted the "same" mileage...both trucks were different than the odometer listed in the check out process, but only by a few tenths of a mile probably due to parking. Just use whole miles. - There is a sticker on the instrument cluster that blocked taking a clear photo of the gas guage - We couldn't pull the trucks out into better light before the above was done or mostly done And, since we had to takes pictures of everything before we checked it out, it seems only right to require pictures proving no damage when we check out, even though it would take time. I videoed the whole truck to provide some sense of parity and to record that there was not dame to the truck. And there is probably more. In summary-streamline this to one or two steps; give people clarity about what constitutes a difference and damage, and consider the user's experience. I do want to add, that the trucks were very capable and I'd rent again if the process is better.

Double check the electrical wiring on trailer units to be rented. We had to substitute a cargo for an open bed trailer due to non-functioning running lights on the cargo model. Nonetheless, the service rep, Matthew, did a great job getting me hooked up and out the door...

Took over 45 minutes past our reservation time to get helped. Computers were acting up so then it took and additional 20 minutes to get the transaction done. Missed our pick up time for our furniture.

Was told fuel was 7/8. Get down road and realize it was at half. Engine bay cover inside was loose causing hot air to fill the cab. Computers where down causing half hour wait. Never again.

Tabitha or whatever her name was started with a T was super rude and wanted to make my rental as difficult as possible,, I’ve rented a trailer probably 50 times from U-Haul and have never been treated this way,,, my rental was scheduled for 7:00 am well they open at 7:00 am,,,, so we arrived 15 mins early ,,, they opened the door at 6:53 and walked to the counter,, so my son and got out of the truck and walked in the open door,,, which at that point she yells across the store we are not open yet , you need to leave,, at which point I said we have a reservation for 7:00 ,,, she says I don’t care come back at 7:00,,, which I said ok but that is literally 7 mins from now ,,, she says nope 10mins come back in ten minutes,,, so we say ok and go back out to the truck,,,,, then she comes outside 2min later and say ok now come back in,,,, so unprofessional,,,, and understand I did the early check in online and all my info entered and ready to go,,,, now she wants to be even more rude and go over everything line by line just rude like,,, and I had my waifs as my second contact and now she want a 3rd contact so I’m like what?,,, ok use my 18 year old sons number which is here with me,,,Oh no I can’t use his number he is with you and I also need to call your wife to verify she is who you say she is ,,, which she worked all night as a nurse and now I have to have a u-haul worker call and wake her up!!!!,,,,, completely unnecessary and have never ever had to do this at any place I’ve rented from,,,, at this point the worker is getting pleasure from making my visit difficult and torture!!!,,, so we do call and wake my wife up now my wife is pissed im irritated and the worker had this little evil smile,,.. so we get through that,,,, now we go out in the parking lot,, she can’t even hook the trailer up,,, makes me do it!,,,,, I will never ever go back

The person behind the desk did not greet me and it took me a couple of tries to get his attention. (No, he wasn't talking on the phone. He was just sitting there). He was mumbly, barely intelligible, and we were halfway through the process before he even met my eye. The location is poorly marked, the parking lot is a hazard zone of construction, and the office was a mess. The credit card machines don't work. The staff acted like I should know everything there is to know about their business and where to go in their messy, unmarked labyrinth of a parking lot. They treated me like an idiot. Next time one of you shows up to ride on my airliner, maybe I'll sit back and ask you to start the engines and then look at you like you're a moron when you ask a question. We'll see how you like it. This location needs to take a big lesson from the drop-off location I used in Texas, because the difference is night and day.
