I reserved a truck for Jan 20, 2019. There was no one there to help me when I arrived to pick it up. After 10 mins of waiting, I had to call the location to get someone's attention to come give me the keys. When I got the truck, it had almost no gas (1/8th tank) and was covered in several inches of ice/snow. We spent 10 mins scraping it off and then had to stop and get gas before we could go anywhere. The back door was also frozen shut and we had to put a heater on it to even open it. Once I finally got it open, we realized they hadn't actually included the dolly and set of furniture pads I had reserved and paid for. This was a ridiculously bad experience. The least you can do is warm up and gas up the trucks people have reserved and ensure the equipment they've reserved is there. This should be basic service.

I filled out the 'express' sign in information on my account; but the local guy still had to type in a bunch of information - various numbers; so your computer system, while improved overall, still has room to improve to make it easier for your local people. Overall, though, was very good experience: I had an almost brand new truck, online reservation system was fine, better than year or so before. Pick up was easy, drop off great. The web site has many details, and they repeat the important legal disclaimers in person, like the gasoline refill rules, etc.

Take before and after pictures of all equipment to show new damages to customers. Inspect vehicle before issuing it to everyone all parts work correctly, including the windows. When a vehicle is returned, and an employee goes out to check the vehicle in, the store manager shouldn't have to go out and verify everything multiple times leaving the customer inside waiting. The vehicles should all get an inspection by a certified mechanic before being issued out. Rental equipment is staged inside the vehicle and is blocking access to the loading zone, but there is a tamper seal on it so it can not be removed without paying for the possible use, this should be offered not mandated. Overall it feels like the company tried to charge us for things that were not needed or requested. For this reason I will not use U-Haul again and I will encourage anyone who asks to use another company.

General U-Haul comment if this is helpful: Placement of the optional dolly & pack of 6 moving blankets could be in a better place, if they have to be there. Move to the left side of the truck / same as filler neck floor obstruction. Placing at the right-rear the way it is now impedes the best/flattest/longest loading surface.

Explain the different types of insurance coverage. Don’t just sell 1 type of insurance and make the customer believe its covers all damage. Also call the customer and send them an invoice telling them about the extra charges incurred and to be taken out of the card used on file. Thanks a lot U-Haul for taking away my children’s Christmas fund.

We were 0.2 miles over the "limit" for a one-way move and were charged $0.08 additional on a credit card. This seemed like a waste of time and resources, especially since the truck was brought back with more fuel than when we received it. This is the first time I have had a limited number of miles for a one-way move.
