Have more than one customer service person on site. When I arrived there was no one in the store. She was out helping another customer in a separate part of the facility leaving the store portion unattended. That can't possibly be safe for any employee let alone a female.

What a dump. There was one person for customers six people deep. The person behind the counter did the best he could while he was behind the counter, but was less than pleasant to my brother-in-law who was thanking him for unhooking the trailer. Perhaps being completely overworked and having to leave the desk to check in vehicles makes you flustered. What made it even worse was that I was supposed to drop the vehicle off at 4901B 1st Avenue North, Birmingham - what it says on my contract, otherwise known as Teague Automotive - a CLOSED LOCATION THAT NO LONGER EXISTS. When I called your 1-800 number to find out what to do, I was on hold for 7 minutes, then 4 minutes. Thanks, Google, for telling me where to go. First, take the CLOSED LOCATION OFF YOUR WEBSITE. DON'T LET PEOPLE MAKE ARRANGEMENTS TO CHECK VEHICLES IN THERE. THAT'S STUPID. Second, hire more staff at peak times. I'm going to guess 3 to 7 PM is probably one of your peak times. Your competitors do it better.

I HAD TO DRIVE 15 MILES TO DIFFERENT PLACE TO PICK UP AND 15 MILES BACK FROM WHERE I ORIGINALLY RENTED THIS TRUCK. ALSO AFTER GETTING THE DRIVERSIDE FLOOR HAD A PUDDLE OF LIQUID OR OIL IN IT. THE GUY WORKING IN THE OFFICE HELPED WIPE THE OIL UP. I LEFT GOT ABOUT 10 MIN AWAY AND SAW THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DRIPPING WHAT LOOKED LIKE BRAKE FLUID. I PULLED OVER AND TRIED TO CALL FOR ANOTHER TRUCK FOR OVER AN HOUR. AFER NO LOCATION HAD A TRUCK AND WAS TOLD NOT TO LEAVE AT ANOTHER LOCATION I DROVE AND HOPED THE BRAKES DID NOT FAIL. I THINK UHUAL CAN DO BETTER WITH MAINTENCE AND NOT CHARGING THERE CUSTOMER TO DRIVE MILES THAT WAS NOT ALREADY EXPECTED TO DRIVE. THANKS FOR YOUR HELP, BRET

My bad review has nothing to do with the individual pickup and drop off locations for the truck that I used. My complaints are directed toward the U-Haul company in its entirety. First, two days before moving day, U-Haul told us to pick up our truck in Hueytown at 9:00 AM, which was 45 minutes away from our previous house in Tuscaloosa. We had even scheduled this reservation a few weeks in advance, so to let us know of this only two days before the move is very inconsiderate. We called to see if we could move it anywhere else or if the truck could be brought to a closer location. It couldn’t, and customer service explained that, so we dropped the issue and were planning to pick it up in Hueytown. Then, unannounced, U-Haul customer service changed our pickup location to a Tuscaloosa branch. However, they scheduled the pickup time for 1:00 PM, which would have taken away half of our moving day when we already had family in town ready to help load the truck. Again, I received no call telling me that the time and location had been changed, so if I had not been diligent and checked my reservation information, I would have showed up in Hueytown with no truck waiting for me. So we called customer service again to get this changed, and, wouldn’t you know, our desired truck magically becomes available at our preferred time and location in Tuscaloosa. All in all, this process took hours out of my work day to resolve. This was an incredibly stressful situation knowing that we had family coming at specific times to help us move, but we couldn’t even get the truck rental secured correctly. Very poor performance, and I do not plan to use U-Haul in the future. Another issue we had was that customer service would not discuss the reservation with my wife. She literally created the reservation with her email and phone number as the contact information, but they would not converse with her because I was the official driver listed for the truck, which is asinine. I had to give them permission to talk to her, and even then, the local branch in Tuscaloosa did not respect that permission when she called to confirm our reservation. The woman on the phone was incredibly rude and dismissive, and I had to hold my tongue so as not to berate her because of her inability to look in the system to see if my wife had permission to discuss the reservation. Incredibly disappointed with the service we received.

I was a tad bit late to pick up the truck I had reservations for only to find out that my truck had been cancelled by the corporate office. I had tried calling to inform them that I was just getting off of work and still wanted the truck I reserved but I was unable to reach anyone at the store by phone. The in store represenative did rectify the problem by giving me a smaller truck, which I didn't want because that caused me to make more trios than I had already planned for. Once I got the truck the power steering alignment was off so that caused issues with keeping the truck in the road. As well as the previous renters items left in the truck. Uhaul must do better. The customer service I received on pick up was impeccable, there was one person in that store and she ran it like a pro Marisha Porterfield.

Train the customer service representative to not be rude and to learn to listen to the customer.Make sure you have enough time for the truck to be returned before you SAY your are renting it to someone else.And the least you can do is keep the customer informed on what's going on ...example call and let them know if previous renter is not back or coming back.

Make sure the representative on the phone when your booking knows the equipment and make sure they do the maintenance on the truck every time someone turns it in the truck that we rented it was leaking on the inside
