Hi Mary. You can contact your local Hitch Center for installation if you need a hitch installed. If you already have the hitch installed, then you just place the rack into the receiver. This does not block your plate. It is possible once loaded that the plate can be hidden from directly behind the vehicle however it is still visible from all other angles. I hope that helps.
