I reserved a 10 ft truck and a trailer to move my son to Arcata CA. We reserved truck/trailer by phone verbally with employee at the Poway location. The employee entered an incorrect pickup date (12-2-2019) uhaul Poway said there were no trailers available in all of San Diego county. We had to change our plans and had to drive the car and truck rental. It was very inconvenient and cost ineffective. No discount was offered.

12/30/2018 Dear Corporate Office, Put Desiree Mcalear - General Manager in for a promotion. She checked out the vehicle, set us up for Poway storage space, checked in the vehicle, and processed a refund for boxes we earlier bought, but didn't use. Desiree is extremely patient, thorough, and excellent customer service for us by her. She is training new staff and at the same time answering customer phone calls. She needs to be rewarded!

The facility, equipment, and staff were all great. The problem is with a new corporate policy of requiring someone, virtually anyone that will answer a phone, to "Vouch" for me as a renter. I'm a local business owner and LONG time resident. I use U-Haul 5 or 6 times a year, sometimes up to 10 day rentals. This last time I went in they would not rent to me unless I provided a second party name and telephone number as an "Emergency Contact. I would not give out anyone's information without their prior approval. I spoke with the GM and there was no work around. I offered a credit card, my insurance company contact, my record as a long time customer, nothing would work. A ridiculous policy! I don't know if I'll go back unless this policy is changed.

Worst experience ever. I reserved a tow dolly at the Escondido location, I show up and the guy say my location is in Poway not escondido. I show him my phone clearly is escondido not Poway. As im leaving I ask him if he has trailers. Available he says no and I ask him who is reserved the name he calls my name i said thats me i tought you said it was Poway he says oh im sorry he goes on and gets mt trailer. I guess he was signed in as poway or something. Than as he is charging me he says he needs to reset the router or soemthing is wrong with the system. About 30 minutes to get out. 24 hours later I come in to return the Dolly and the guy checking me in says it's not the equipment I checked out. I said this is what you guys give me. So i go inside the person calls the guy who was there yesterday to see of he rented me a dolly to which he confirms he did. I guess was logged in as a different location. The guys tells me its goimg to take a while to close this up. I ask can you take carw of it he says yes I ask to please make sure i dont get overcharged or anything this was not my fault. I get home and I see that I get overcharged. So yes this was the worst stressed situation when it should've been so simple.
