I ordered a truck, 2 dollies, and furniture pads. When I was messaged and told where to pick up, it indicated that everything i ordered was on hand and ready. This was not so, when I got there only the truck was on site. The representative told me it was U-hauls responsibility and that "they do this all the time". There were also 3 other customers that morning with similar problems, and this makes me question using U-haul in the future.

Ginger & Norwich Ace Hardware will be the ONLY place i'll rent uhaul from EVER... despite reservations, 2 other Norwich locations didn't have my truck, had bigger, wanted more $$$, & had horrible service. we left empty handed-- Ginger at ace Hardware saved our uhaul experience. & we rented again from her. & plan to this coming weekend also-but only Ginger/Norwich Ace Hardware...

Truck was dirty. Looked like someone was transporting bails of hay or something. Interior lights did not work, had to set up a spot light to see inside for unloading. Other than that service renting was great, even called and extended the rental another day the lady i spoke was friendly. She did call back a few hours later wondering where the truck was until i reminded her i already called. Thanks uhaul

I went to the location 48 hours in advance to reserve the cargo van. On the day of pick up I had to wait a full 30 minutes while the clerk had difficulty processing my payment. Another clerk came to assist but she too had difficulty. When I expressed my frustration that I was wasting time I needed for moving she snapped at me saying "It's not my fault, it is the computer!" After 45 minutes she handed me the contract. I had to wander around the parking lot looking for the vehicle and then for the key that was left behind the back tire. All with no assistance and no opportunity to ask questions about the vehicle. The vehicle itself was wonderful! I would rent another Uhaul but not from that location.

Location was great although I requested a different side of town not knowing this was just "preferred". The email confirmation listed the one I chose and after much confusion on a Sunday morning in which the original chosen location ended up being closed, we called uhaul and they told us where our truck was. Minor heart attack.

truck was filthy dirty- never swept out interior cargo lights not working making unloading in the dark difficult Charged for 1/16th of a tank of gas at a rate of $4 per gallon (where- in Alaska? Rate per gallon is $2.50) How does one tell what 1/16th of a tank looks like on the gauge The rental center's attitude was, "Deal with Uhaul- we just check in and out"!

Blankets were ordered but unavailable at location. Clerk said they had not had blankets for a long time even though they requested them many times from U-Haul. Fortunately we were able to use cardboard and soft plastic panels to keep appliances separated preventing damage but no blankets could have been a huge issue. Cargo area was clean but cab center console had soda spills in cup well leaving everything sticky. We cleaned once we realized why items placed in cup wells were sticky.

When I rented the van the young man was courteous & helpful. He was an A+. I only had the van for a couple of hours, and only drove it just under 22 miles. When I brought it back, I filled it up right next door. Pump stopped at $1.96. I still put $4.01...that was all I could squeeze into it. Upon return, the man who checked it out was on the phone. No problem. When he came back in, 12 min. later, he rudely asked "you didn't put any gas in it?" I showed him the receipt and told him that was a rude and accusatory question. His tone was clear. He said it was a question, the gauge was just below the full.( I'd gotten the van that way). I told him to check the gauge as it's probably off. This person was rude & nasty. Take him out of the equation and the location would be perfect!

My trailer was never checked back into the system when I returned it. They apparently rented it to someone who was moving to VA but it was still showing as being rented to me. After a couple phone calls from U-haul corporate, I stopped by to try to figure things out and was given only attitude from the woman I dealt with. I was accused of not returning tbe trailer and was told it was my problem. When the trailer was returned by the new renter in Virginia, I was charged again for the extra time. I'm still trying to get to the bottom of this. Bottom line: Uhaul and the equipment is fine and I've never had any issues, but this location is terrible and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

Female employee was not pleasant at all. The vehicle was not swept clean when I got into it,but I swept it upon returning it because you charge for cleanup .

Inform when multiple trucks are rented from the same location where to return before leaving facility. very bad experience having to swap truck return locations- on a 1 day in town rental with 2 trucks. was never informed that one truck was a one-way, other was same location return-but both came from the same location. along with a price difference Also!!!!!!!!!!! very poor business

The Norwich location bailed us out when the Groton location could not get the van back from the previous renter. As a side comment the renter at the Groton location was 10 days past due on return of the vehicle. Honestly if this was truly the case why didn't UHaul file a stolen vehicle report? Either that or the Groton location was lying to me and rented my van even though I had an order for 2 weeks. Also why didn't the Groton location call me to inform me of the issue? Overall I would give them a -10 for service. They are either incompetent or liars. When you don't communicate you get this type of response. Again, the Norwich location was great!!

You can ensure that this place is HELPFUL to any uhaul customer. They were NOT helpful to me at all. Starting with the person that helped me check out saying that "she didn't expect to work this early" to the guy that was supposed to be able to help me put the uhaul trailer on my vehicle and he "didn't know how to do it". Luckily a bystander was walking by that knew how to put the trailer on the hitch and hook it up (I didn't know). This COMPLETELY set me up for failure. How can you have a company that has YOUR SIGN BRANDED on their building not know how to operate your machinery. Do you actually expect me to believe that you think that everyone that rents a trailer from you knows how to hook it up THEMSELVES? Isn't that why people in need use your company, for your expertise? This was positively the WORST experience that I have ever had, with uhaul or ANY other company. I hope that someone reads this and ensures that Ace Hardware doesn't represent your organization with any future dealings, as you will surely be sorry. Sincerely - One Pissed off UHaul Customer (I have already escalated my concerns and Karl Johnson was able to calm me down and deal with the situation)

The 10 ft. truck I reserved after being told very few reservations were that next day, was not available the next morning as promised- it was let out the night before. What is the purpose of a reservation then? I was hesitant to drive a bigger truck but managed. The truck drove like an army tank- very sluggish. No furniture pads were provided nor tie downs.

The location was convenient. However, the Uhaul Lady was not very knowledgeable. She told us, even tho it was requested with the reservation, that there were no hand trucks available so we purchased one from the store. There was a hand truck inside the truck when we opened it.

What to do to improve: stop selling uhaul services Your staff is beyond rude, I do not deserve to be spoke to so harshly when asking what time I can pick up a trailer. You need to check your trailers, the lights didn't work, there was animal feed and animal poop in the trailer. It is illegal to transport animals in that kind of trailer, that person should have been reported by your ignorant staff

We had a fairly rude customer service rep at this location. Her name was Irene, I called to change the pick up immediately after scheduling it, and she seemed as though I was inconveniencing her. When my husband went to pick up the Uhaul truck today he asked if the woman I spoke with on the phone was named Irene, because he dealt with her today and she was very short and rude with him as well. However, I spoke with an actual Uhaul customer service rep on the phone (Joanne I believe) and she was incredibly helpful and kind!!
