The van hadn't been vacuumed out and was a bit dirty. It was hard to track down the person in the office as he was out of the office doing something else. So I had to track him down in order to pick up the van. Same thing when we returned.

Ensure the mileage is right when the vehicle is given and check it back in when itâ€™s returned so a threatening letter isnâ€™t received 4 days later.

I was moved from the Baker/Fairview Storage to the Newport Beach location at the last minute. The wifi was down and it was 45 minutes before we got into our truck. We were there at 8:55 AM and didn't actually get into the truck until 9:45. Then there was a 2.36% fee added to use a credit card and that was not on the website. Would I have been charged an extra 2.36% at the Costa Mesa location? I think this is a BS fee and should be either advertised when you rent online or folded into your overhead. I didn't even have a choice to pay cash since the wifi was down at the location. The person Taylor called and offered me 1/4 of a tank more of gas for free and 40 more miles, but the person who reported the gas was at 3/4 of a tank was mistaken and it was more of a little bit past 1/2 a tank. And I had already planned my trip so 40 miles is completely irrelevant to me.

I set up my rental through the App and was supposed to pick it up at 8:00am. Upon arrival the App showed a message that my rental was not available until 9:00am when the shop opened, even though my order listed 8:00am.

Initially had an issue with wrong milage out. This location immediately corrected the issue charging me the correct amount. I would use and recommend this location in the future.

Once you get into where the trucks are kept you are behind two closed gates with no way to communicate with the office. You are completely locked in unless you can find the hallway through the storage area to the office. They need signs. Also the parking spaces for the trucks face the IN ONLY gate so itâ€™s dangerous to have to do a 6 pt turn to get the truck faced the correct way to the out gate.

I had a lot of trouble with the off-hours rental through the app. I had to sit in my car for 20 minutes waiting for my application to be reviewed, and the online chat built into that same page got no response. But, that is a fault of U-Haul, not this location. However, on return, I pulled into the small driveway, and the gate was shut, with no space in the driveway to put my truck. I had not been given a code to open the gate (perhaps those who checked in with a human rather than the app were given a code?). I was in the driveway for several minutes, blocking traffic and not knowing what to do (the office, although within business hours, was "back in 15 minutes"). Finally, another U-Haul tried to pull in begging me (no space!) but they had a code for the gate so we could both enter and get out of the way.

I made my reservation online & waived insurance coverage. However, when I picked up the uhaul van, the person who helped me at Campus, Newport, added $60 insurance & when I objected he said he canâ€™t go back and corrected on computer, but I can be reimburse when I drop off the van. Also, he promised to call to Sacramento office (where I was going to drop off) regarding this issue. When I dropped off they told me I can only get reimbursed by the the original office where I pickup the van & no one called from that office. I called customer service and promised me someone will call me back but no one did.
