I originally had a reservation for 8:00AM 7/11 for the use of a 10ft UHAUL at 300 Mowry Ave Fremont CA. Spoke with the man working there about meeting me at 8:00AM that day since normally they open later. I was there in the morning and I waited until 9:00AM until I decided that he was not going to show up. I called the number he gave me and the office cell phone number multiple times and no one answered. I was forced to call UHAUL to rearrange a moving van. After rearranging for the new van, I was charged about twice as much as my original quote. $19.95 for the day, $1.30 per mile, and gas up the van before returning it to the same location. I had to pay $116.08 instead of $58.95 for my 30 mile use of the van.

This place was very confusing. There were no signs on where to park the truck I was returning, and there was nobody in the front desk. When I finally submitted the truck keys, they did not say anything. No instructions, no thank you, nothing. I had to wait and ask them if it was all set. I was very disappointed with this place.

Originally I have booked a U-Haul at 4833 Thornton Av Fremont, CA 94536, but the day before move, it said there is no car. I have been assigned to 35111 Newark Blvd Newark, CA 94560 at 09:00, but it do not open. When I call 800, it said it will open at 09:30. After wait 30 minutes, it still no one answer. Then call 800 again, I was assigned to 7324 Wells Av It is really a bad experience to have so much change on the pick up location. And seems the schedule system is totally not robust.

make sure tank is full, because tank was really low and i wasn't sure how much fuel it would take to get to my final destination and ended up putting about $30 more in gas than i needed,so i wasn't too happy about tank being low when picking up uhaul, easier to pick up with full tank

The trailer that I reserved was not available and I was given a different, larger trailer for the same price. The trailer I received was moved from the location where I made the original reservation. When I arrived to get the trailer, the parts I needed to complete the installation were not available and I had to go to a different location to buy the ball, etc. The people at the installation location did not seem to know how to install a trailer so, after they were finished, I went back to the original location to have it checked. When I took the trailer home, the lights stopped working. I had to take the trailer back to a different location to find out what was wrong. After an hour and a half, it was determined that a) the original trailer hitch installation had a bad job of wiring and b) the trailer that was installed had a short in it's wiring that was blowing fuses. Luckily, another trailer was dropped off just then and I was able to take that one instead. After loading the 2nd trailer at my home and starting on my way, I heard a dragging sound. The chains for the trailer had come loose from my hitch and I had to reattach them only one block from my house. Then, 60 miles further, the chains came off again and I had to reinstall them and tie everything together with rope so that it wouldn't come loose again. This was a horrible experience !!!!

I was contacted by a representative at U-Haul to let me know that my only options for a truck about the size I requested was 35 miles away or at European Auto Newark. European Auto Newark was only open for a 2 hour window on the Sunday I had reserved the truck, so I scheduled an 11:30 am pickup. I was contacted later that afternoon by the owner of European Auto Newark, and he pushed me to pick up the truck that night at 9:00 pm when I would be arriving home from work. He explained that he didn't want to have to come in just to do my paperwork on a Sunday. I found that extremely unprofessional. I normally would not have agreed to pick up the truck in an isolated location alone after dark, but luckily I was able to find someone to come with me. I would never use this location again in the future and will think twice about using U-Haul.

Instead of answering the call with, "Hello", I would suggest answering with, "European Auto/ Uhaul".

This was a small dealer - the problem was that the reserved unit was not returned and no replacement was available until next day which was not acceptable for my situation. I had to make major adjustments to use a smaller unit and the time delay was almost a disaster. The dealer was trying hard, there just wasn't inventory in the region.

This was a dirty garage location surrounded by old cars or ones being fixed. Too far out of town from Hayward where I wanted to pick it up. The address for pickup was changed after I made the reservation. I wsa not given the new location until a day before pickup and it added an hour to my drive time to go to and take the truck back to my home. There was a UHaul 1/2 mile from my home!!!
