This experience has been my worst with U-Haul, by far. When I arrived at the pick up location, there were three 26' trucks, but my out of state move was the crappiest truck present. It ran rough and looked/sounded rough. Regardless, we filled up the trailer and proceeded from Lawrenceville to Franklin, TN around 11pm on Friday 7/21 night. As I got onto I-285, the truck was bouncing around like crazy from the potholes and rough road in the right lanes, so much that I could barely keep it on the road. Suddenly, the check engine light came on and the truck lost mechanical power. I barely made it to the side of the road and we called roadside assistance. After arrival, the tech couldn't find the problem, but reset the computer. We tested the truck by having me drive it and they would follow, if the problem resurfaced. Not 10-15 feet down the road, it started again and I had to carefully maneuver it across the Peachtree Industrial Blvd exit ramp without causing an accident. When the tech got back on the phone requesting a tow, they told him to trace the wiring in the truck for a broken wire. This went on for 2 more hours beyond me waiting for his arrival. I had an unload crew coming at 8AM CST in Franklin that morning, but when I explained to the roadside assistance operator that I needed to be in TN asap, she just peppered me with questions about wearing my seatbelt, how big the pothole was, etc. She never called me back. Finally the tech reset the computer again, but he was surprised that U-Haul wasn't taking better care of me. I proceeded down the road, praying that every bump in the road didn't cause the issue to re-appear. My mother lost her hotel reservation because of our 3+ hour delay on one of Atlanta's busiest roadways. Both me and her had to drive up to Franklin in the pre-dawn hours, deprived of sleep. We even had to pay extra to the unloading crew to step up their efforts in 90+ degree weather so we could drop it off on time without a penalty. Everyone I spoke to was surprised that such a beat up truck was selected for an out of state move; I should have gotten one of the better conditioned models available on the lot. My mother has opened a complaint ticket, 1479817, with U-Haul. I want some of my $600 payment refunded to me, both for the loss of the hotel reservation and the lack of care U-Haul showed me during the whole process. I promise you that if I do not get proper resolution to this, I will share this with everyone I know and you will lose a customer for life.

They did not walk me around the truck or even let me know i was allowed to go check it out. They had me sign papers as the guy was pulling it up front. They put the wrong dolly in and the drop off location had to fix the records for uhaul.

The name of the location where I picked up my uHaul (A-1 Mini Storage) was not the name that showed on my credit card statement (SafeStorage). As a result, I made a frantic call to SafeStorage, thinking someone had stolen my credit card information. The location and credit card statement really ought to match!!!

Got there just before 5:30 (which is the time listed that they close) and it was already closed. Luckily there was a key drop, but I would have been more comfortable leaving the key with someone working there since the dolly was in the back of the truck which did not have a lock.
