Leaving the place locked with an active reservation and claiming to have never seen it came off as very unprofessional. Unless no other location is an option for whatever reason, I won't be using this location again. I booked a van an hour prior. When I showed up the door was locked and no one was inside to give me the keys. It was during business hours. The Open sign was on and there was a sign that said "Will return at 1:00pm" which was when my reservation was but there was no one there. The lady showed up 20 minutes later and claimed she never saw my reservation. She didn't apologize or anything. She just handed me the key. I had people waiting on me who had somewhere to be after helping me move furniture. I felt bad for holding them up. I had called customer support and when the lady pulled up in her car it sounded like she was on the phone with them because she said something like, "I'm arriving at the office right now, which customer is it?" I don't know if anyone was even going to be there if I hadn't called the support number.

Key was not in the lock box. I had to talk to the service center representative. They gave me the wrong key at first and I had to go back to get the correct one.

Roxana MI rented a van last December 6 to pick up a sofa right around the corner from Uhaul (0.4 mile away) and returned it back immediately. I gave back the keys to Stephen the attendant. He did not check the van so I thought it was an easy rental and amazing experience. The initial rental amount is $38.91. I was surprised to know that I was billed $129.89. I went back to Uhaul the next day and asked Stephen why I was billed that amount and he said and showed me a photo that the van was damaged, which I did not do while renting the van. This is frustrating because Uhaul just picked someone to blame it on, and unfortunately it was me. I am disputing this because I did not damage the van. Stephen failed to check the van and it is not enough to just show me a photo of the damage because Uhaul is just assuming I did the damage as that does not prove that I did it. It could be the client before or after me who have done it. I demand Uhaul to be fair and do the right thing with regards to these kinds of situations and bill the correct client that did the damage.
DENNIS SWish I could give 5 "minus" stars. One of the worst customer experiences I've ever had. I initially made my reservation online with all the appropriate information. I was scheduled to pick up the van at 10 AM on Sunday, December 7 at US Storage Centers. I arrived at 9:55 to find the office dark and the door locked. There were 2 other customers waiting for service (who ultimately left out of frustration), and a third who just wanted to return his truck. At 10:15 I called the 888 number where I was put on hold for several minutes, then spoke to a service rep who ultimately was of no help. I was put on hold again and finally spoke to a rep in the scheduling department, who called the agent who was supposed to be on duty at 10. He informed me the agent was 15 minutes out and I should wait. If she didn't show up, I was to call back and they'd find me another can at another location. When the agent finally showed up, the first thing out of her mouth was, "You can blame this on U-Haul because I'm out by Rancho," wherever that is. I explained that I had been waiting for 40 minutes with no notification, that my people were relying on me to move a bunch of items, and that I was on a deadline. No apology, no explanation, just a totally unprofessional and rude demeanor for the rest of the transaction. She seemed disgusted with the whole idea of checking the van out to me. When I inquired about having my bill discounted due to being inconvenienced AND treated poorly, I was told first to "Call customer service," and then, "Talk to Jesus" (who apparently works there but was nowhere to be seen. I finally got the van over an hour late, which put my entire day off schedule, plus I had a whole serving of attitude from the agent. The U-Haul app was worthless uploading pictures until I got home where I could use my WiFi. If this agent had made any attempt at an apology or explanation, and followed it up with some degree of care, I would have written it off as "things happen." Instead, U-Haul was happy to charge the full price on my card despite assurances that there was a note on my bill that I was entitled to some kind of discount. I left 2 messages about my bill today for Jesus, for which I feel an adjustment is warranted based on the agent's inability to show up on time and for the rude and unprofessional behavior. Jesus never returned my calls, so I guess I'm stuck paying the full bill, and for my troubles get to keep the memories of dealing with people who don't seem to take pride in their work or their company. Rest assured, my Google and Yelp reviews will be forthcoming, so I hopefully can prevent other potential customers from using this business and enduring their own fiasco.
