The truck ran horribly, the brakes froze, it idled rough, and the transmission hesitated when shifting. We tried the auto check-in and still don't know the point since we still had to go inside and wait in line to show our phone confirmation to the attendant and get the keys, rather than save time it took extra time. Then when we brought the truck back we were charged a cleaning fee because there were footprints in the cab, well it was a rainy day so seriously what do you expect. But the icing on the very sour cake was when a set of keys was accidentally left in the center console and the store didn't find them until they were told exactly where to look and the truck had been re-rented and returned again. Obviously it wasn't cleaned very well if a large set of keys weren't found. The store had been called dozens of times from 9 am on only to get every call sent to the call center, no call was ever returned even when my son-in-law went into the store and asked them to call me immediately. I finally had to personally go to the store late in the afternoon and make them go take the keys out of the truck. Yes, the keys were still where they had been left and no one had even bothered to look until I was standing in front of them demanding it. Considering how often we need to rent a truck to use for home projects, I will be looking for an alternative rental company.

Made a reservation weeks in advance, got an email and text message telling me where to pick up the trailer the day before. I also called the location the day before. I arrived in Gulfport at 10 am and the manager told me they did not have a trailer for available for me. He spent over a half hour searching other locations and was not successful so I inquired about renting a truck but would have been about $200 instead of the $29. He then said he would give me someone else's trailer and told me I could drop it off at any location. I tried to drop in off in Kenner, LA and they said it would be an additional $225 if I didn't return it to gulfport and it had to be back by 4pm which was impossible. I spent over an hour on the phone trying to talk to the manager at gulfport and kept getting sent to customer service. U-haul made my move miserable and extremely stressful, I will never rent from uhaul again and will discourage anyone else from using it as well.Horrible experience!

The equipment wasn't secured and I was almost charged for it because the seals wasn't replaced. The blankets was strolled through the back of the truck and the dolly was just laying down on the floor so I called and let them know.

The trailer I rented should never have been in service. The left axel was bent causing the trailer to ride crooked. I had to stop every 2 to 3 hours to let the tire stop smoking and cool down. When I go to my destination the tire was completely bald.

They were so busy no one checked the truck before leaving. Also when I asked the gentleman about changing my drop off area I was told it would be a small charge. I was lied to and charge 150 more bc I changed my location when I was told it would actually come out cheaper if I didn't out as much miles in the vehicle.

Overall I was satisfied with the services I used. I gave a rating of 3 stars for the follow reason. On a Monday I submitted my request for a car hauler on U-haul's website. The requested pick-up location was one of u-haul's "neighborhood dealer" and the pick-up date was Thursday. The inquiry stated I would be contacted by a rep to confrim pickup. On Thursday about 30 min out from my scheduled pickup time I had still not heard back from a U-haul rep, so I called my requested "Neighborhood dealer." The rep from John Fayard was extreemly healpful and provided me inforation on where my pickup might be. Upon calling the u-haul location in Gulfport, my reservation was still not confirmed (now minutes out from my scheduled pickup). I was transfered to scheduling who, without apology, confirmed my reservation like I should have known all along. From this point on, the service was great. I picked up my trailer no problem. I would like to highlight the exeptional service from the man working the yard. 3 stars would be 5 if I did not have to take the initiative to call you back for my buisness.

I reserved and rented a pick up truck at a rate of 20 dollars per day + fees for mileage. Upon pickup, the service given by the manager (Toni) was exceptional, friendly and delivered efficiently. My vehicle was in excellent condition, absolutely no complaints about either the vehicles or the general manager. However, I made the mistake of estimating my return time at 6pm the same day during rental, when in fact the truck was returned to the Uhaul parking lot at 6:15pm. I was poorly greeted at the reception by who I came to understand was the assistant general manager, a Terry Poole. Terry quietly went about assessing the state of the vehicle before returning and handing me a bill for 180 dollars. On my one day pickup rental, with 100 total miles driven. I couldn't help but wonder why the total value was so high. I reviewed the bill and saw that I had been charged for 2 days at a rate of 40 dollars a day in addition to the mileage and insurance fees. Terry had already charged my credit card before reviewing the bill with me, but assured me the charges would be correctly adjusted to 20 dollars a day but told me that as a result of my retaining possession of the vehicle for an additional 15 minutes that I would be charged for the extra day. When I pressed for an explanation, he explained in what was obviously a very irritated manner, as though I wasn't entitled to an explanation regarding the outrageous charges, that uhaul was within their rights, as the original contract stated that it MAY apply additional charges if returned after the predetermined time. His explanation being that those times are important for assessing the availability of vehicles to maximize rentals, thus the additional charge. In the event of an excessively late vehicle, this is a completely understandable policy. However, it was my (naive) interpretation that the return time was best served as an estimate rather than a hard deadline. If I would've been made aware of this before the rental, I obviously would've chosen the latest possible time for the return of the vehicle. This new approach would only serve to decrease the availability to rentals to other clients, only to serve my own interests. My experience can't be the Uhaul expectation for return times. And my interpretation that the return time should represent a best estimate seems valid, rather than setting a hard deadline for myself. I would have begrudgingly accepted the extra charge if it weren't for the fact that shortly after leaving I was contacted by my credit card company to alert my of a potential fraudulent charge from uhaul, which I was charged two times, once for $79 and once for $100. The latter being the correct total for my rental, and the former being the difference between my correct bill and the first overcharged bill I was presented with. Hard to see this as a coincidence. I was extremely frustrated with the way Terry chose to handle the situation and his arrogant attitude while handling it so poorl

I had an amazing experience! I called, I thought was the local store and she was so helpful and kind. I went to pick up the truck and was looking for who I spoke with to find it was a telephone representative, I was happily surprised! The store associate was so professional and helpful! She explained that they are open 7days a week to my surprise and to please come back! Of course, and highly recommended them!!! They went above and beyond. See you next time I buy something that can't fit in my truck! Thank you again!

This was by far the most disturbing experience of my life! After receiving numerous threats, by both "manager Tony Nelson," and customer service representative "Terry," my reservation was placed under the wrong name, I spent almost every single day of my rental time on the phone with Customer Service (who are exceptional) revealing to them the repulsive behavior and bullying I was continuously receiving. I was mocked in front of another customer, my mother, a UHaul employee, AND my two YOUNG children by "Terry." Who rolled his eyes, referred to me in inappropriate names - after being reminded I was a customer and another customer was present! While on the phone yet again with customer services, the lady who I believe to be "Rachel," could hear the outrageousness of Terry, who had since called Gulfport Police Department as well, and they too had to shut Terry's snide remarks up, Rachel requested I put her on speaker phone so that she could instruct Terry on the $360 overpayment I had been charged, and what he was to do at that point to close out my account and give me my refund. Please note, I had already made over $100 in cash payment at the time of rental. Terry, in front of the officers, referred to me in the derogatory name I asked him to cease using, saying I would "owe even more money, and I would never be allowed back inside his store. I ask for all camera footage and notes to be reviewed as I caused zero disturbance, not even raising my voice) Terry touched MY PERSONAL PHONE, and hung up on customer service as they attempted to instruct him!!!! The officers along with myself were appalled! The officers then instructed Terry that enough was enough and he needed to handle the situation so that we could all leave. Terry responded: "NOPE - I'm closed and I'm shutting off all computers" in which he did! He then called Tony Nelson who has personally threatened me, Tony spoke to the officer and I was asked to leave. Terry continued mocking me while I was on hold with customer service, while continually saying I would not be allowed back in the store. PLEASE NOTE: I have witnesses to vouch that I remained professional and never once acted inappropriately, there are tons of cameras in the facility that can validate all of this!! I reported this all to Customer Service again after departing the location, and was told that Terry was deleting my notes in an effort to cover up all that occurred, and a brand new case had to be opened! I will make certain I take this to the very top of UHAUL cooperation, along with our local newspaper, and news station! I will make certain no other human is treated like bottomless trash!

I was in a pinch before a cross country move, 2,849 miles, and they spent the day of July 4th, 2017 to ensure I had a safe, clean and affordable deal on a meager budget.
