I always use online checkout. This time it went very smooth when I arrived at the pickup location. However, the previous week I rented a trailer and did online checkout, when I arrived the associate helping me treated it like it didn't matter. She also verified that I chose trip protection when I hadn't. She literally said â€œI see you want the $5000 trailer rental coverage for only $8.00â€. We both knew I didn't select it, so why say I did? If you want to pitch it or verify that I don't want it, fine. But don't lie about it. Plus this person demanded I provide an alternative number, someone who'd answer when she called right on the spot. Are you kidding me? This time when I rented the associate was polite, treated me with respect, saw my online checkin, and got me in and out of there without calling. I've rented several times from this place and only had the one experience like my previous one. I felt like I was being accused of something before I did it. Hopefully that previous experience was a onetime thing.
Given that we are in the middle of a pandemic I am very cautious about public interactions and touching shared-use surfaces, so I was dreading to have to rent a truck that requires me to touch a steering wheel, knobs, handles, etc., and a pen/paperwork. Well, my concerns were unfounded: the folks at U-Haul Storage of Ferndale totally had their act together and then some. Without any prompt from me they clearly were using best practices: well designed infographics that clearly outlined their comprehensive sanitation protocols, the employees all wore masks and gloves,were very conscious of social distancing and also provided a verbal description of their Covid precautions. The clerk even sprayed the paperwork with an aerosol sanitizer (again without any prompting from me). On top of that they were very friendly and efficient. It was like a military operation they were so organized. The people at this U-Haul franchise are operating at the very highest level of customer service, and I would (and will) recommend them most highly.
Price a little high
Well the whole experience pretty much sucked other than the trailer was nice. First you call the number that you think belongs to the shop in the location that you want to be and you talk to somebody in India who I saw your time only to not really understand if what you're looking for is at the location that you want so gives you the actual number to that location. Then I called the location nobody answers They finally do answer and confirm they have what I'm looking for so I reserve it. I arrived to pick it up there's nobody in the office so I have to stand around waiting for somebody to come out of the back storage area. and then the whole taking of my information starts all over again easy 20 minutes before I'm on the road. We finish up with the trailer go to take it back once again nobody in the office but there's a phone number up you're supposed to call. So I call it three times until it goes to voicemail No one answers. I just want to unload the trailer and leave but I don't know where to leave it because the parking lot small. Finally someone shows up and to say that he wasn't helpful is an understatement. there's no real dropping it off there You're expected to drive back through the storage facility and onto the far side of the property where you get no instructions on how to back the trailer up where they want it and because it's shorter than our pickup you can't see it finally got frustrated and just stopped got out and that's when he informed me that he could roll it back into position. yeah it might be worth the extra time to drive to the bigger center in Bellingham to rent one in the future or the local company although they're both in Bellingham so it's a little bit of a drive to go get it but seriously not the best experience.
This was the second time in two weeks I have used u-haul and this was much slower to process than the first experience. Drop off was quick and easy but the check out seamed like a long time.

Pay another employee. It shouldn't take 30+ minutes to check in or out. Don't try and charge people for things that are petty.
after spending time to fill out all the check in photo copies of everything reading all the optional information and submitting it I had to do it all again, this is not the first time this has happened this makes me believe that this process is a farce and total waist of time. and the part where you must have another contact to rent is stupid what if you don't have one or they don't want to be on a call list for them to have to call them at the time of rental really bad idea.

The folks here are awesome!!! They have gone above and beyond to make sure my experience has been a great one. They made everything as easy as possible and were very helpful.
The Manager who ran this facility back in February was a gem. He was so professional, had a great exceptional customer service, even when people were complaining and not happy because they didn't prebook and had to wait. I would go back to this location again and again, He was promoted to a larger location so I hope the great service that he built continues.
Jamie (sp?) was very helpful and tried to make all the necessary accommodations for me.
The truck was clean and ready to go. The service was excellent I rented truck on spur of the moment no call ahead just showed up was in an out in 15 min. Return was fast and easy.
When we arrived, no one was in the office. There was a sign that stated the manager was on the property, back at 4 pm, for immediate assistance call. We called twice with no answer. After twenty minutes the manger came in. She was confused that there were extra chains on the hookup and had to call for help. They appeared to not know how to lift the tongue off. I told them the man just picked it up and put it on the ball. They did that and I finally left. They were courteous and that made the experience tolerable.
During both visits the staff was exceptional. Great customer service!
Julia was fantastic, and even helped me back out my truck with a tow attached.
Service worker met me outside and quickly attended to me....was nice and polite as well.

My trailer pickup location in Birch Bay seems to be run by some folks who are unfamiliar with the website's payment processing. Ferndale people are wonderful!
The staff was extremely helpful and very thorough. I highly recommend this place! I really had a great experience with this company.
