Gary HWe really wanted a 5 X 8 trailer to load and return to Alsip but they only rent 4 X 8 and it was too small but we had to take it. They only rent 5 X 8 locally. They need to keep some trailers of this size to rent 1 way only as going all the way to Mattoon is several miles. The toll free number sent us to Montrose (even though pickup was suppose to be in Effingham) to get the 5 x 8 and no one was there called u-haul number on our receipt and even they couldn't get anyone at Montrose location to answer the phone. We got text msg Saturday 6/6 and our rental was 6/8 that we had to go to Montrose to pick up our 5 X 8 trailer. This was 13 miles so a total of 26 miles and with the price of gas and to get there and no was is there to rent us a trailer was ridiculous. We even tried to call the place in Montrose directly to make sure they had our rental before the drive but of course no answer as usual for every place now days and we knew it was a garage so we thought he was working and didn't hear the phone. This service was horrible and I will never deal with u haul on the internet or toll free number again. If I need to rent a u haul I will rent it directly from the place that has them.
Randy HManager was a jerk. Refused to answer my call or return my call. I had 24 to return but had said might have back by midnight. Did not have back and when I called CS they took care of issue of 'recovery of a late rental truck '. And confirmed i had 4 more hours before truck needed to be returned. Took so much time trying get hold of Mgr my loaders needed a couple of more hours. Mgr called man who picked up truck for me! But not me. And I had spoke to him personally twice. Man finally put his phone up so I could hear the jerk and he could hear me. He was full of excuses and lied and said he had tried to call me. I had no missing calls from him. I ended up having to add another day for the rental truck which I would not have had to do if he had answered my call the night before at 8:30 or returned my call as his recording said he would do. I have rented MANY uhauls n my life and never had such an experience. We have a five star rated uhaul business here in Effingham w/ a full time knowledgeable young lady that truly checks the equipment and has much more room for trucks than this 3 star hotel where I rented truck from...not even a spot to a vehicle when u arrive for pick up. If reviews really matter then my final statement is 'give uhaul equipment to dealers that are honest and have space to safely pick up and return equipment. Did not give uhaul a bad star rating but if I could give this dealer a star rating it would be a 0 star. He lied. Thank you for taking the time to read this lengthy diatribe! Sincerely.
STACEY BParking is tight, but with patience doable. Personnel were super helpful even when technically closed. They seem like good people here.
