The store was not open on time. We had to wait 10 minutes before someone arrived. When the individual arrived, our paperwork was not ready to go - even though we selected the express check out.

The folks at this uhaul location were great to work with. They stayed after closing on a Sunday to wait for me to pick up my truck. However I had a personal medical emergency that caused me to have to return my truck right away. I was told that I was lucky that the company did not make me pay double since it was supposed to be a 103 mile 24 hour one way trip and it turned out to be a local trip of 22 miles back and forth from the uhaul to my house. Doesn't make sense to me. Dorothy at A Storage worked hard to try to convince corporate to give me consideration given my family emergency but they charged me for the full trip anyway and told her that I was lucky that they did not charge me extra for the mileage and gas (even though all I did was drive the truck to my house and back to the rental location). I never even opened the back of the truck. While I understand that I had the truck for 5 hours and drove 22 miles, I am disappointed at the way the company handled a customer who had to return the truck early without using it because of a family medical emergency. I would have been more than happy to pay for the local rental, mileage and gas.

My problems with Uhaul are not with the location from which I picked up my truck, or the location which I dropped it off. My problem with Uhaul is with the way that they handled my reservation on a corporate level. When I originally put my request in for a truck, I did so with at a location near me. Because no truck was available at that store, instead of telling me I merely received a text message confirming my reservation at another location(East New Market)..no effort was made to explain the difference, just that it was made. When I called back to see if there was another location closer I was told that the uhaul representative would look around (which I was fine with), I later received a call back staying that there was a larger truck available at another location (closer to me) and that I would be upgraded for no extra cost. I CALLED that location (chestertown)to confirm, and believed that would be the end of the confusion. Instead I receive a call the next morning ( the morning of pick up) stating that there is another truck available in Dover Delaware ( for the record this location is over an hour and a half from me) a message is left, so I think that this is just another store reaching out to me in regards to my first call in. I also receive a call from the original store that I was supposed to pick up from (East New Market)stating that I haven't come by to pick up my truck. I think that because I have already confirmed my reservation at Chestertown the message from Dover is not applicable and that because I am picking up from Chestertown that there must have been a lack of communication and no one had told these stores yet. Little did I know until I show up that the reason for these calls is because there was a mix up and that truck is no longer available at Chestertown. Now the representative at Chestertown is very nice and apologetic and I have no problems with him, what I have a problem with is the fact that he told corporate about the confusion and asked someone to give me a call back but no one there seemed fit to tell me, only to call and tell me that another truck is available without any form of explanation as to why I need that other truck. I spent over an hour traveling between stores because no one handling the reservation thought that a FULL explanation was necessary or could possibly be slightly less confusing. Not only is this extremely frustrating and stressful but it leaves me with the thought that Uhaul has no idea what they are doing. I am a first time user of uhaul and it's safe to say I probably won't be doing it again soon. My name was spelled wrong on the contract that was sent over to the pick up location and b/c of that the email address that I had on file was also wrong--making after hours drop off even more difficult than it should have been. In the beginning I didnt think anything of the misspelling because no one explained that I would have to use my email and the u-haul website to do an after hours drop

Dolly is missing she didn't have it on the temporary office they've on the location. The location is completely demo and they didn't have a sign showing where there temporary office will be also we been calling since Friday and Saturday no answer we had to re schedule to pick up the uhaul then showed up at 0900 she wasn't in the office or answering the phone till 1000 then I finally got the truck at 1152 then I inform her we don't have the dolly can we get it she inform she doesn't have a dolly right now so I ask to remove it out of the bill please so we will not be charge for it or inform us a missing item. It has been a night mare, I never felt so stress out and loss helpers to help me move to be near base by my work.
