This was a drop off. The office was closed.
Locations were fine but the rental process is a disaster. My initial reservation was cancelled because they said they didn't have a hauler and closest one was Richmond. I then reserved a tow dolly but had to drive to Cape Charles to get it paying almost $50 for tolls. When I got there they had two auto haulers that had been there but you're system didn't have them. When I returned to Norfolk I had to get gas and the gas station I stopped at also had auto haulers From UHaul and a dolly although your system didn't have them. Reservation system F- Locations A
There was a lot of confusion around the quarantine, it seems like the U-Haul location didn't communicate with the national Uhaul or vice-versa.
Clearly it was the day the Uhaul was closing due to the Coronavirus. I was at the wrong place but had not had an email telling me where. There was very high stress on returning, was screamed at to fold the blankets and many of us were treated badly due to the high stress of closing and the virus. it was a horrible experience for all of us. I understand the severity however perhaps turn off the giant neon Open sign if it was closing or don't take the stress out on all the customers. I would never go back there again - on top of this there was a new girl training but was clearly told she had to learn things on her own. This apologies is more about the service rather than the van itself.

Carol, agent on duty, was wonderfully friendly and helpful. She had a great truck ready for us in fabulous shape, pulled forward to the door, absolutely spotless. Check in was quick and simple. Extremely satisfied with this location!!!

Your reliance on smart phone tech is bad. What do you do with a customer who does not have a smart phone and does not want to get one. You assume that everyone wants to be connected all the time in every way.
We had a reservation for a Saturday, 10/19/19, at 4:00 p.m. to pickup a 5 x 9 trailer. We stopped in to see if we could pick up the trailer at 3:15 (since we were already there) without changing our drop off time from 4 pm to 3:15 pm on Monday. She said she didn't know, so we didn't want to take any chances and said we would be back at 4:00. She said they close at 4:30 (even though the time on the door said 5:00). She said UHaul doesn't pay overtime and that she would be gone by 4:30. She also said we should not have been given a 4:00 reservation. We said we would be back at 3:45. We came back at 3:40. She couldn't get the UHaul website to work properly. She finally called someone else who walked her through the steps. It was around 4:30 when she was done with the computer. She showed us where the trailer was, but my husband had to hook it up. Luckily we have rented trailers and a truck from Uhaul many times over the last 15 years so my husband knew how to do it. Besides the issues at the Cape Charles,VA location, our main issue is that the UHaul website says you can rent 7 days a week. We originally were supposed to pick up a trailer on Sunday, 10/20/19, from Exmore, VA. Fortunately, I called on Thursday to verify they had a trailer because my son was getting married on Friday 10/18/19 and I didn't want to have to worry with UHaul on my son's wedding day. The customer service people said the location was closed on Saturdays and Sundays. They looked at all of the locations on the Eastern Shore, VA and every single location was closed every Saturday & Sunday except the Cape Charles, VA location that was open on Saturday, but closed on Sunday. Had I not called, I would have been in VA with no where to pick up a trailer on Sunday, 10/20/19, and I HAD a reservation for it. If the UHaul dealers are not going to be open on the weekends (like it says on your website) the computer should ALERT me that I can't make a reservation for that location on a Saturday or Sunday. It was bad enough that I still ended up having to talk to UHaul during my son's wedding photos being taken prior to the wedding ceremony because we were trying to make decide whether to take a trailer with us from MD (& rent it 3 days) or go to Cape Charles, VA. We ended up having to drive to Cape Charles, VA (a good 50 - 60 mile round trip out of my way) and pick up the trailer on a Saturday (when I didn't need it until Sunday), but had I not been able to pick up my reserved trailer anywhere on the Eastern Shore, VA on Sunday 10/20/19, I would have been beside myself. We drove 200 miles (one way) to the Eastern Shore, VA to pick up items that we needed the trailer for. Had there been no trailer anywhere because all of the UHaul dealers were closed on Sunday, words would not describe how upset I would have been. Anyway, please have your computer programmers make sure your website doesn't allow people to make reservations for a location that is closed on the requested date. I wou
The personnel here were fantastic to work with. The equipment was as clean as expected for a moving truck. I had a three day driving trip of which it rained two of the days. The truck had a steady water leak right above the driver's seat that ran down my left shoulder, my back, and puddled on the floor. This poorly maintained truck was dangerous and annoying. The danger was from my wet hands, wet seat and wet floorboard. The annoyance was from being wet and having to stop and ring out a towel. This added time and further expense to the trip. I am very upset with U-Haul and plan to use another company In December.

There were screws, broken pieces to the light, and some bracket in the back of the truck. Cab had some kind of liquid in most of the cupholders and candy wrappers on the seat. Would have taken 30 seconds to walk through the truck and fix all of those things.

I've dealt with them many times before. They are always pleasant and great to work with. Always friendly and smiling. In my opinion they are the the best people I have ever dealt with from UHaul. I will only deal with them from now on for my UHaul needs.
