COLE WDo the repair work on the equipment before a customer picks it up. The U-Haul truck air conditioner was not working. The car carrier trailer had the brakes locked up. I figured that out when I was going up a mountain; the brakes stopped making a noise so loud I could not hear anything in the cab. Going down the mountain, the brakes engaged and made the same loud noise. It took going up the next mountain to get the brakes on the trailer to unlock again. This most likely cost me extra gas to move my stuff. I am sure this problem also put extra wear on the trailer brakes since they were engaged to some degree for the first several hours of my move. Since I did not figure this out until I was halfway to my destination and the brakes were no longer hung up, I chose to keep going instead of calling and waiting for U-Haul to bring a replacement trailer. I was given an address for a small U-Haul dealer to drop the equipment off. The place was closed. The parking lot was so small that there was not a big enough space to park the equipment. The entry to the parking lot was blocked by the equipment I dropped off. It was that or park it on the street and let the city tow it for being illegally parked on the street. I even had to back my car off of the carrier directly onto the street since the parking lot was so small. My only other option was to park it in front of a different business next to the U-Haul dealership. That would have been easier to get into. It would have made the business upset with me for doing that and blocking them from their building. The U-Haul and the tow trailer just barely fit into the parking lot and blocked the garage doors from whatever that site does besides rent U-Haul equipment.
