Not impressed with the truck we were given. I had a 2 hour ride from Rutland to Saint Albans. At first the truck seemed fine, just had normal wear and tear for an old truck. But once I was on the highway there was a strong fuel smell the entire time. I had to drive with the window down, in the rain, because the smell was so strong. Along with that, the brake light and ABS light kept coming on and off. The brakes felt like they were dragging every time I came to a stop and took off again. I tried calling the Rutland location multiple times and every time sat on hold for 20 minutes and nobody answered the phone. Tried calling the next day and sat on hold again for 30 minutes. Clearly this store does not care about answering its phones. I feel bad about leaving this review because the manager Kris was very nice in person. But overall this experience has been kind of a nightmare. I'm surprised U-Haul would allow a truck to go out with these issues.Connor A.
Maybe make sure the trucks are actually clean before giving them to the next customer. The cabin smelled like an ashtray, the arm rest was stained with who knows what, and the seats had crumbs of some kind all over them. A walk through was not done with me, I was just handed the keys and pointed in the general direction of the truck. With my last two pickups at other locations, someone always walked me to the truck, gave me an overview of the operations, and confirmed its condition with me.Christopher B.
The trailer badly needed lubrication at the tongue jack. The tongue jack was almost impossible to turn, even with two arms together.Charles C.
I picked up the U-Haul on one day and had poor service from the woman attendant. I told her there was some damage that had not been marked and she said I had to use your Internet link. She refused simply to come out and look at it and mark it. It was raining and windy and the Internet site would not upload the photos. It was a miserable experience and didn't work. The next day when I returned to get the tow dolly, the man thereâ€”probably the managerâ€”came out and looked at it and marked it. He gave us terrific service. She, however, needs some training.barbara C.

Inform customers that the vans are commercials vehicles and can not be on parkways and certain roads. Especially when they know the route. We got two fines for being a commercial vehicle and advertising on a parkway.Avery P.

Our rental agent neglected to tell us that we had to drive over an hour to pick up our trailer rental. And that she could not guarantee we would have a trailer on the day we reserved it for. She also said it was a five day rental when it was only three.Katherine B.

I responded already and have had no response in return. We were given an old vehicle that was not road safe, multiple transmission and suspension issues as well as exhaust and steering. Your service agent in return simply agreed, that it was a vehicle with â€˜many issues'. Totally unacceptable, and made the moving experience terrible.Carrie B.
I experienced the worst customer service today at your Rutland location. The lady at the counter this morning was annoyed, visibly preturbed, down right cold, and dismissive. I really wanted to take my business elsewhere and would have if i wasnt on a tight schedule. I was displeased with how your employee represented your company. When returning the rental later in the day...the same emplotee received our return...and again expressed a cold and unwelcoming demeanor. Our "thank you" was met by silence. When I had an issue it was Impossible to get in touch with anyone at the Rutland location by phone, I kept getting routed back to customer service. Customer service told me a "manager would call me back" that never happened. Also marked unclean because there was a used face mask left in the vehicle. As far as customer service goes I talked to 4 individuals, 2 were unhelpful and rude, the other two were pleasant and very helpful.Travis D.
The staff did not seem to care about my returning of the equipment. Two of them chatted amongst themselves and I needed to excuse myself to get their attention. And then they didn't check in the truck, I got a call from U-Haul the day after I returned it asking where was the truck since it was due back.Eric S.
